I've spoken with the Doctor and I don't like what he has to say, I don't like it at all.  He says that I can't continue typing as many hours a day as I do and I need to limit the use of the keyboard on my BlackBerry...  WHAT?  I know the pain in the top of my hand that radiates up my arm is actually keeping me up at night, but doesn't that mean that I can just continue to work if I'm awake?

When asked what's changed in my lifestyle recently I was really torn when I had to say that I've been blogging a lot more and using my BlackBerry to text and send email like a junior high school girl.    He acted as if there was an obvious answer, if it's hurting you... stop doing it.  At that point the only thing I did was to stop listening to what he was saying and all that medical mumbo jumbo and went to my happy place that includes all the texting and blogging a girl could ever want to do.  I know, very mature.

Who knew that Active Rain could be this painful?

So...  If I don't reply to every comment on my post please understand that I'm following the doctor's orders.  I'd rather use those valuable keystrokes to comment on your post... I'm slow, but I will get there.

Hey, Who has the Advil?

Hi Debbie

Ok are you saying that active rain gives you a pain or active rain is a pain? Just kidding, I hope the issues with your hands improve.

Good luck and success

Geez I hope you get better soon.  Who would have know that blogging and texting could cause so much pain.  I went through a week of some serious pain in my right arm a few weeks ago.  I'm almost certain it was from all the typing I do.  Fortunately it went away on its own and has not returned.

Addiction is cruel, just take it one day at a time. Hopefully you can get a voice recognition program for your next birthday. Start leaving little notes around the house.

Debbie, maybe you could get a second opinion!  This happened to me a year ago and, thankfully, went away on its own.  Perhaps you could try a different keyboard that doesn't require you to type at an uncomfortable angle.  Good luck!  Keep us posted.

Ouch!  I hope that you are attempting to do some of the suggestions above, espeically re: finding a keyboard that elevates yorr wrists or something.

Poor baby! Get a great big brace? I don't know if that would help. OMG, that would be awful! Try an ergonomic keyboard! I would have to learn to type with my toes!

Get better fast! We just can't have this!

Thanks for the comments you guys...  I've tried an ergonomic keyboard, but it really boils down to use... My right hand is stronger because it is my dominant hand...  I'm not happy but I have cut back.  Who knew that something I would find so fulfilling would cause me pain...

I guess I have to look into video blogging...

I feel your pain.  My hands sometimes make me feel like an old man.  All you can do is give it a break.

I think video blogging might be the way to go.  Good thing is people understand where you've been & what you've been challenged with.  KM

Hi Debbie, whoever advised "everything in moderation" wasn't addicted to Active Rain!  I keep vowing to spend less time on the computer, but break those vows daily, so I give up.  My hands don't bother me as much as my back, but my husband has carpal tunnel syndrome from playing the guitar, I think.  He isn't apt to stop doing that though.  He plays a couple of hours at least every evening (while I'm on Active Rain or posting listings or whatever).

Man-oh-man... that's not fun. Is there some miracle vegatable or something made by Ronco to fix this malady?

Debbie, a year ago I got tennis elbow from painting of all things.  One year later and my right arm is still not totally normal.  I'm not sure if it ever will be.  Long story short I understand your pain.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement...  I've been busy showing property with very little time to blog... My hand is feeling great.  Hoping to keep this busy schedule up so I'm pain free and closing deals.

Debbie -

I feel your blogging pain - mine is in my left trapezoid!  I try to get up and move around but I find myself clicking on every catchy post title I see.  Your last comment was the most telling, however - - stay busy with flesh and blood people and let the pain flow right out of you.  Glad you are feeling better.
