Trey Thurmond, College Station , Texas HomesI knew Trey Thurmond and his wife, Khris were planning a trip down to San Antonio, TX sometime over the holidays but had no idea when.  I was driving to the office yesterday to meet a client when Shirley Parks called and to tell me Trey & his wife would be arriving in San Antonio sometime yesterday afternoon and they wanted to meet some of us for dinner on The River Walk.  I jumped at the opportunity to see Trey & Chris again.  We met at the first Texas Active Rain Gathering & Barbeque up in Bandera, TX back in April.

When I finished showing properties to my client, I gave Shirley a call to coordinate time and place to meet and where we'd be having dinner.  Another call to Trey and it was decided we'd meet at The Menger Hotel and then go to Paesano's on the River Walk.  I quickly gave Paesano's a call to reserve a table for 6 for 6:30 pm.

We arrived at The Menger a little after 6:00 and of course, I got side-tracked looking at all of the pictures and reading the plaques and taking pictures.  I received a call from Shirley, checking on where we were - ummmm, just around the corner (literally) from y'all.  We'll be there in a minute.  It was a short walk about 2 blocks from The Menger to Paesano's.  Then, a short wait in the bar while we waited for a table. My husband, Don & I had the specialty of the House - Shrimp Paesano -  I was so busy taking pictures of everyone, I forgot to take a picture of the food - sorry!  Hehe   The food and service are very good at Paesano's.  We finished our meal and continued to talk - got our bills for dinner and continued to talk and take pictures of each other and the restaurant.  Finally,  I decided I wanted a cappuccino.   So we got the waiter back over and ordered coffees and cappuccinos and continued to talk.

The restaurant was closing (yes, we closed it down) so we left.  It was a pleasant evening here in San Antonio - temperatures during the day had been in the low 80's (yes, on Dec. 26th!) and temperatures for the evening were In the mid-70's.  Very pleasant!

Shirley, glad you like it.  I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunities since we're working in the same office now.  :)

Judi, I always think it's wonderful when other AR people meet--it's like you already know eachother!  I'm glad to hear dinner was good and you all had a wonderful time.

How fun to hang out with fellow ActiveRainers & a great video Judi.  I love Paesano's but always seem to have the same thing...shrimp paesano.  My dad makes a mean shrimp paesano himself, yum!  KM

Judi

Thanks so much for joining us all and helping make it a great weekend!  It was our anniversary and I don't think it could have been spent with anyone better than good Active Rain friends like you, Shirley Parks and your husbands. San Antonio on the river is so beautiful at Christmas time. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic place to spend a couple of days.  We did get to the Guenther House at Pioneer Mills for a fabulous breakfast this morning and then drove through the King William area. What wonderful homes! Thanks for making it special.

Trey, Happy Anniversary to you and Chris!  So happy y'all came down to San Antonio to celebrate and visit with us.  I have lots of pictures of the River Walk, The Alamo and The Menger, I spent last night editing them.  I have several posts started but not finished.  Thought I'd get it done today but after church we ran errands so I'll have to work on them some tonight and get them posted later in the week.

Carole, it's always nice to have you stop by.  Yes, it is nice when Active Rainers have a chance to get together.  I've been blessed with the opportunities to meet many Active Rain members this year.  Looking forward to meeting many more in 2009.

Kristin, we should have contacted you too, I'm sorry.  It was so spontaneous, I guess we didn't think about it.  :(   I love Paesano's too -- my husband sat there at the restaurant eating his Shrimp Paesano and said that "Judi's version of this is really much better!"   :)

Ceil & Carl, Wish you could have been there with us -- the evening was beautiful!  The food at Paesano's was great too (as always).  I took a lot of pictures now I need to find time to post a couple of posts I have drafted that are waiting for the pictures.  Had to go to the Woman's Club today to "undecorate" the house.  Going back tomorrow to get it all packed up and put everything else back in it's rightful place.

Ann, it's one of my favorite places too.  My husband thought it was going to have to "drag" me away from it on Friday night.  :)  We did have a wonderful evening.

Happy New Year to you too.  If you ever come to San Antonio, I expect a phone call or email so we can plan dinner on the River Walk.  :)
