OUT with the OLD and IN with the NEW.....2009

By

That is the saying we have heard so many times......

I have such a habit of cleaning my home, my desk, my car, my files, etc.....all for the goal of organizing my life between Christmas and New Years.   It's my MENTAL way of getting my brain in order.

The same holds true for my current listings.

I noticed that the "expired" listings on our MLS database is up and our inventory is down.  I know that is a normal thing for the end of the year.

Happy New YearI have new listings that have gone into the MLS this week, with more after January 1.   But I also have listings that have decided to take their homes off the market.   They don't see the market improving and have lost the motivation to move.

As Realtors, we work so very hard for our clients - using all our marketing tools, pricing stategies yet still have no "results" for our selling clients.

I hate having a listing expire.  Every listing has a different story.  Different needs of the sellers, different motivation of the sellers.  Life changes for my clients and I understand their needs.   Some now have decided not to sell at all.

If you too get discouraged that your clients goals were not met.......keep the faith!  Keep up your hard work!   The market WILL move.

So if you have expiring listings that won't renew in this down market......just keep in touch with those clients.  You are their professional agent.

So OUT WITH THE OLD

             and IN with THE NEW!

Let's all Plan for A Prosperous 2009.  For you AND your Clients!

Nice concepts....we all want the new, but sometimes are still saddled with the old.  I like what you said about the sellers becoming discouraged...that's true of many, but we can stay in touch for sure.

Hey Christine! This has always been my business habit as well. Get myself ready for a dynamic New Year. Get my personal calendar all set up with important events and birthdays since Family comes first. I also do a special calendar for my favorite aunt (and the only living one!) with all the family birthdays etc. since she is in her 80's. I include little personal notes since she lives near the Withlacoochee River and I am on the Space Coast.

I grew up in your area (mostly - and that's another story) and the family cemetary is in Arredonda near Kanapaha Gardens. (Grandad was a preacher for the old church that was there) I technically graduated from GHS. 2 of my 4 girls graduated from UoF.  I lived on Lake Alto outside of Waldo when there were only 4 houses. Sonny worked for my dad when I was a teen- and maybe he was too! His twin brothers were in my grade. What a life! But the winters on the water were brutal! It's usually pretty comfortable year round here : >

Hi Christine,

I am doing exactly what you are doing this week. I think maybe it is a bit comforting to get all those 'ducks in a row' so to speak. Maybe even more so this year as we all worry about what 2009 will hold in regards to the economy and it's impact on our business. Let us all hope for better days ahead.

Happy New Year to you. It happens and we just move on. Sometimes we both just need a new perspective. If I have done all I  can do and it doesn't sell and they won't listen to me then let somebody else have a shot.
