Small Town America can be found in any one of the eight Pascack Valley Towns in Bergen County, New Jersey. Spotlight the small town of Montvale New Jersey. As you enter the small town of Montvale, you are greeted by yet another welcoming Train station on Kinderkamack Road. The Pascack Valley Train line serves as a link to New York City just 32 miles away. For the many commuters who long to return home at day's end to their piece of Small Town America, the town of Montvale is certain to meet your family's needs.

Back in the day when the former "Huff's Ice Cream Bar" (across from Montvale Bowling Lanes) was the local gathering place for families on hot Summer nights, the residents of Montvale enjoyed an old fashioned community atmosphere. Times have changed and the town has grown but many families can still enjoy the same Old Time atmosphere of those days long ago.

The borough offers a broad and diversified program of activities for everyone old and young alike. Starting with the Four parks offering such activities as tennis, basketball, soccer, football, baseball, roller hockey & softball to name a few. If you enjoy bowling than you can find that too at the Montvale Bowling Lanes. And for the horse lover, Mar-Bel Stables offers riding and stabling services. Outdoor Pool facilites are available to Montvale residents on a membership fee basis by the privately run Montvale Swim Club. For the active Senior, the Montvale Senior Club has various trips and activities as well.

The borough of Montvale is just four square miles with approximately 7,400 residents conveniently located 32 miles from NYC via the George Washington Bridge. The town is also located on New York's Rockland County border and enjoys access to such highways as the Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, the NY Thruway, Interstate Hwy 80, Palisades Parkway and Route 17. The Red and Tan Bus Lines also offers service into NYC. And the Montvale Train Station offers commuter rail service from the center of town.

Love the small town perspective!  I live in a small town, too, many benefits to that, wish I had thought of doing a post about small towns.  :)

Hi Lisa and Robert, yes I must agree with you it is BEAUTIFUL. I recently had the pleasure to work with KHovnanian on their Christmas Open House of their new development. My design assistant and I spent the day speaking to sellers about the value in Staging their Home for sale and all were treated to a Horse and Buggy ride through the development followed by good food and hot chocolate. A bit like Christmas's past!

If you are considering working with a home staging professional in 2009, I would love to meet with you.

Happy New Year

Very Nicely Done, Lisa and Robert...the background music is perfect for a small town atmosphere!  Do you mind sharing some tips on doing a video as I would love to create on of our neighborhood!

Great Post!

Looks like a nice place to live, but I'm afraid it would get too cold to suit me in the winter.

A great localism post.  I'm going to try and do one for our small historical town of Lewisburg.

Hi Kay,

Thanks for your kind words.   That's Bob - he loves taking pictures of our old hometowns.

Hi Virginia,

It's never too late!  Just go out and have fun with it!

Hi Diane,

That's so funny - haven't heard that term used since my Mother used it.  I guess you are right - it is a bedroom community for all the people who work in NYC.

Hi Colleen,

It's actually pretty warm these last couple of days - 50's and 60's but I guess you have to like the snow that comes occassionally.

Hi Ann,

Thanks so much for your kind words.  We hope you had a pleasant Christmas.  Hope you don't have too much snow.  We got some and it was so pretty but glad to see it gone after all the shovelling.

Hi there, I have never been to Montvale, but it looks very nice.  There are so many towns in New Jersey and they are all unique.

Ah the memories! I miss Huff's Ice Cream!  Sorry to see the Roller Rink go this past year I think it was.  Surprised to see the Bowling Lanes are still there.  All the other lanes in the area are just about gone.

Nice post!

Hi James,

Thanks for stopping by.  We're glad to provide you with some nice memories.  It was sad to see the Rink go a couple of years ago but the area is still rich in it's many amenities for it's residents to enjoy.
