I believe that we live in the best country in the world. Yes, there are things that could be better, but at least we have the freedom to talk and write about what we don't like. And although I would not want my sons to joint the armed services, should they do so, I would be proud and support them 100%.
So, a couple of weeks back, three incredible young men came to our office. The three friends from Westlake Village, Scott Williams (23), Paul Rose (22), and Matthew Walker (21) are all alumni of Westlake High School Choral Music Department and formed the group Trek For Troops. In May of 2009 these amazing guys will sing and hike all 2600 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, stretching from the Mexican border all the way up to Canada, to raise awareness of a noble charity called Homes For Our Troops. For over three months they will battle the weather elements and be sleeping in rough terrains across this Challenging trail, all in the hopes of bettering the lives of our nation's heroes.
For five years, Homes for Our Troops, has given back to our severely wounded war veterans by building and adapting homes for them that accomodate for the handicaps they received while protecting all of us and our freedom. Please help these young men in any way you can. You can donate via their website at www.HomesforOurTroops.com.org/goto/trekForTroops. For more information, email them at trekfortroops@yahoo.com.
