2009 is going to be a good year!

Wow, it isn't even here yet and 2009 is already looking to be a good year! Staying busy over the holidays is starting to pay off! Yet another one of my listings went under contract in under 30 days! (not trying to brag or anything but.... OH YEAH!) ;)

I have a bunch of business lined up to start my year off right. What it can be attributed to is, essentially, my inability to sit still! Here is a list of how I kept busy.

  • Any business that didn't HAVE to be put off, wasn't. (Hence how I was able to get one of my listings under contract on Christmas eve, and I still was able to spend time with my family!)
  • I worked on my reactive/proactive marketing pieces. (JoAnna Siminerio wrote a great post on this entitled "Be an Active Pro by being "Pro"Active")
  • I reorganized my business (Office, desk, files, computer files, etc.)
  • Probably the most important one was that I established my goals and physically wrote them out (it's not enough to just think them). For more on Goal setting read my post on it entitled "The Importance Of Goal Setting--Make it Your Goal to Set Goals"
When it comes down to it, I don't think what I did is really as important as the fact that I did. I didn't hold still, I kept on keepin' on, and now it's paying off.

... So what did you guys do for the holidays?

Fantastic! Great start for 2009 for you. Hope everything goes well the rest of the year. I am getting back into the swing of things after being mentally out of the market in 2007/08. My goal for this year is $10M. I am having a little slower start than you. But the pieces are in place to make things happen. Yahooooo!!

Jose,

Sounds like you've got a plan, as well as the drive needed to accomplish it! $10M is a solid goal, I wish you luck and hope you achieve twice that! Let me know how everything goes!

Warmest Regards,

Brendan, congrats!  We actually took Christmas eve and day off for the most part, but were right back at it the day after.

I think it also will be a good year.  Not as good as past years but far better than 2008.

Tim & Pam,

After the listing went under contract, I took the rest of the day off to finish up some shopping with my brothers. I also took Christmas Day off. Glad to see you're back at it and keeping busy! Hope you have a great New Years!

John,

I haven't quite been in real estate long enough to say I know much about the "good years" however I think that will work to my benefit in the years to come. I'm able to get a lot of business in this current market, so I'm quite excited to see what a "Hot" market actually looks like.

Thanks for the comment,

I am really excited about 2009 and anxious to be rid of 08.  I have  settlement tomorrow that hopefully will go smoothly and be the first paycheck for the new year.  Happy New Year to all.

Hey Brendan,

I really like your attitude and your enthusiasm!

Agents who work hard, and work smart, will be fine in 2009.  Go get 'em!  :)

It certainly is.  And I had a good year in 2008 so I'm hoping to truely bust it in 2009!

Linda,

Congrats! I hope it goes smoothly too! Keep pressing on, I'll do the same, and in a year lets talk about how well we did!

Bruce,

Thank you for the kind words, I think that the attitude is half the battle, improve your mental "stamina" and you'll be untouchable! Best of luck to you in '09!

Cindy,

I'm so glad you had a good year in '08. There was plenty to do for those of us who were willing to do the work! I wish you success in '09!

Just as it is not good enough to think about goals, it also is not good enough to write them down. One must persistently and consistently have a daily plan to meet those daily goals, weekly goals, monthly goals, quarterly goals, and annual goals. If one works those daily goals persistently and consistently, the weeks, months, quarters, and years usually just naturally fall into place.

As George Harrison sang, "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there." I like to know where I'm going so that I can take the most scenic road.
