WEEKLY TUESDAY TRIVIA QUESTION

valerie osterhoudt

This is the last Tuesday trivia question for 2008.  No need to be sad.. I'll be continuing this into 2009. With New Year's Eve being tomorrow, I thought this weeks trivia question should deal with this holiday.. Are you ready?  Here is your final question for the year 2008.

What was the drink we know as the Bloody Mary originally called.. and where did it originate?

Once again, please try to answer(s) this question without using the internet.  If you should, don't ruin the fun for others.  Just take a guess, and I'll follow-up with the answer on Friday.

REMEMBER IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO OUT AND DRINK.. HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER.. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.  MAY EVERY MEMBER HERE HAVE A HAPPY, SAFE NEW YEAR'S EVE.

This is a great question and I'm not going to play.  I do know the answer because it was recently a trivia questions at a local bar where I visit occasionally and play trivia and I want to see what answers might show up.

I hope you also have a happy and safe new year Valerie!  And a very proporous 2009!

OK...but this is just a shot at it, as I really do not know where it originated...I am going to guess as the name implies some kind of horror....Bloody..sounds english so my guess is it originated from a english horror flick.    Now I will go google it and will be back to read what others say!

Happy Holidays!

Hi Valerie.   I don't like Bloody Mary's...but I will take a guess:

My guess is that they originated in England.

As far as the name...... I have no idea - but I will guess:  'Spicey Nicey'  haha

Val, I think the drink was named after the queen..and therefore the Bloody- as in a London Slang what it was prior I don't know we used to call it breakfast in College..but that was many years ago many..many brain cells ago. New Years Morning, breakfast of champions? Good luck everyone..no clue unless I cheat and I never cheat.

Ok. Val you want a guess.. the last queen to die (bloody) with out an heir (virgin) was in 1609, so my off the wall shot is the drink was a blood virgin..until queen Mary Was Crowned..then they added Alcohol to the drink and renamed it a Bloody Mary..?I'm probably wrong but it's a logical conclusion right?

Steve..This is very logical thinking.. I would probably guess the same thing.. if I didn't already know the answer.. Hmm, now I wonder.. are you right, or are you wrong?  We'll have to see on Friday.

Valerie, I don't have a clue.  Mary fell, spilled a red drink on herself, someone walked in and said OMG, it's Bloody Mary! :) Happy New Year!

Okay Valerie- It's late in the game... so I'm going to tell.. I said I knew because it was in a local hang out where it's actually on the seafood menu... as "Bloody Snapper and Chips" and was part of a Thursday night trivia recently.  It's red snapper.

I can't wait until next Tuesday!?!?! to see what you come up with.  Have a great weekend.

Oh dang it, my teachers tried and tried to teach me not to answer the question before I read the whole thing.  And I was out having a fantastic dinner date with my sweet husband and missed your "hello, where's the second part".  Oh well, I'll have to pay more attention next Tuesday.
