Staging is not a new concept it has been around since the early 90's but like everything it takes an idea to travel around awhile before everyone catches the concept.

HGTV was the wild fire for staging.  They informed their viewers about this innovative concept of presenting the  home completing ready to the future homeowners.  By de-cluttering, de-personalizing, reshaping the furniture to fit the home the buyer can see how the home will work for them.

Staging is not going to go away any time soon, so get on board and use it in your marketing efforts. Whether you stage the primary living spaces or use small staging concepts in limited areas you will have better responses from buyers and that will help you  to get the sold sign posted!

Karel,

I wonder though, should the staging come at the expense of the homeowner or the agent?  I've seen some agents spend money for something I feel the homeowner should be responsible for or am I not in reality?

Teresa,

Good question.  I often tell the Realtors I work with to tell the homeowner to pay for the staging and when the house sells they will reimburse the homeowner 1/2 of the staging cost.  Win.. Win.  You get the house staged AND you lock them in until the house sells because most likely they will not move onto another agent if they have money coming back.  It really works  and the home will look awesome.  Remember when interviewing a staging company to ask to see their work in person. Don't rely on pictures.  They will be representing you as part of your business.  Good Luck!

Thank you for the insight!  I like your idea as it seems that that both sides benefit at the closing table!
