What Was YOUR Best Post of the Year?

I just did my last post of the year. I sat back and pondered and really, really liked the post for many reasons. Five minutes later, and even more proud of myself, and my post, I deemed it, in my own head, my best post of the year! I know it's short, and you may not see what I see, but that's ok.

I'm not writing this post to pat myself on the back, I'm curious to know what YOU thought was YOUR best post of the year. You don't need any explanations or criteria---give me your gut instinct!

I'd find it interesting to read what YOU think is "good stuff"--and we can all share our best works!

I did get a couple featured...so one of those must have been my best...ny fave was about the REALTOR Code of Ethics. All the best for the new year!

I wouldn't vote for any of mine, as I am just starting out here....got going in September, and am still trying to figure out a lot of things, and keep working at it slowly....steady, but slowly!

the post I was most intrigued to hear people's responses to was What WAS theirs is now MINE!

I still cant believe how many people have come across abandoned REALTOR-WARE !

Kevin, My favorite post was the recap I did of the 4 week military relocation contest that Margaret Woda ran. I liked it so much that I turned those four weeks of contest posts into their own blog - here is the post

....as for what "I" think was my best post of 2008, it would be ACTIVE-RAIN-SUCCESS-STORY-COMES-FROM-CONTEST-ENTRY-Great-things-happen-here. Not because it got me a little gold star, but because it got me a GOOD lead.

Kevin - Your favorite post of the year is 12 words long? The link goes to a very short post. Having written about 500 posts in 2008, I would have a tough time picking just one, but it's a cool mental exercise.

I too have just started Blogging... and am by no means an authority. ...But, your post was so short I really couldn't tell anything about it. ....Although I did enjoy your profile pic(made it all worth the while)....So Thanks! ... COACH Realtors (my brokerage) is also part of Christie's !

Yup! No rhyme or reason. The post IS very short. Did you read what the post is about and the ramifications of the Madoff drama? Sometimes less is more and MORE interesting. Further, shorter blog posts seem to be "in vogue" right now. Heck, Twitter is 140 CHARACTERS.

I had one post last year that was a picture and one line of text.....DRUDGE REPORT linked to it. I'd call tha a VERY successful post.

This is turning out to be a interesting discussion. The most successful bloggers (real estate agents) are hyper-local.

I wouldn't really expect you to "get it" if you didn't live here. If you did.....YOU'D know!

The purpose of the post is not for you guys to judge my post, it was intended for YOU to judge YOUR posts.

There is not a perfect formula for a great blog post (contrary to ALL that's been written). Don't get stuck on a particular topic, length or structure. Do what you like, it will show AND lead you to success.

Probably so,...like I said I enjoyed the view...I might even subscibe?? Some very impressive properties also...

Doll, define "best"! I don't think this was necessarily my "best" but it is the one that means the most to me for 2008. Happy almost New Year!

My recent post applying Seth Godin's principles to another long time principle I've used successfully, was technically months in the making. Since Tribes came out, I've been blending it with quick Probe, Evaluate, Close techniques. See hand drawn graph at the end of the post.

A Godin "follower" just came by and called it a Great Post. My regular readers are looking for my normal real estate stuff. But this one, I think, will be more appreciated by Seth followers as time goes on.

So I'm "most proud" of it because it is quite different from my normal fare.

Hey Kevin - Kristal's post is most assuredly one of the best posts of the year. With that picture, I had to go check it out! A total hoot for sure!

I don't have one from this year that I would consider my best but I do have one that is full of comments that mean the world to me. They give me support and comfort, even though it's a hard post for me to go back to most of the time. "Active Rain is Like a Giant Family - Thank YOU For So Much".

Goodness! Best is impossible, it's in the eyes of the reader. Favorite is easier.

This would have been easier if you had asked for 50 rather than just one.

Most of my favorites have been related to the "mortgage mess" because it (the mortgage mess, not my posts) has transformed our industry. I've got almost 90 posts with that tag.

But, the below is also a favorite which I did early in the year for the agents in my network, most of whom don't blog, read blogs, or think about anything but selling real estate.

It's "hard core" enough.

It appears I posted something like 250 + blogs in 2008 and of course, I love them all, so choosing a favorite was tough! But here's one that always makes me smile when I read it... (I love to rant)...

Hi Kevin, what a great way to read new and interesting posts. I have only been here since July but have slowly learned about the site and blogging (while staying busy at work in the real world!) My two favorites in the last six months that were not "Featured" were:

We are also the exclusive Christies affiliate here in Austin and I have 18 years experience in the upscale market so maybe we can do some referral business in the future. What a fun post to end 2008 with, Kevin. I think I liked my Get Out There and Vote post, best. It was one of the most interesting election years that I can remember in, like, forever! It was nice to be passionate about a candidate instead of voting for the lesser of two evils (which seemed to be what I have been doing for the last few elections). It doesn't matter whether your candidate won or not. You have to admit that it was an electrifying year, to say the least!

Hey, Kevin. No reason, exactly, but I liked my Kids Having Fun and Raising Money in Edmond post the best. Thanks for giving me a reason to look back over what I've written so far. It was fun.

OKAY...I over looked the "one post" part, so feel free to ignore one! Happy New Year from Austin, Texas!

I really don't know which one was my favorite post of the year - I think it was one that I ultimately had to take down, because it was so controversial and my broker was pissed at me for leaving it up :) - it was a post on how we need to take overpriced listings off the market and that we need to be encouraging sellers who have no real reason to move (other than "they want to") just to stay put if they are in a house that probably won't sell at the price they want. I had a couple of sellers call me very upset and also their Realtors as well - but strangely enough, I noticed they pulled their homes off the market shortly after my post :)

I think some of my best posts are the ones I don't actually post. Why? Because I decide that they are not how I want potential clients to read. They allow me to let off steam over a comment someone has made or a news article I have read. Then they go in the circular file and I stay the course of creating posts that have made my phone ring and 2008 be a successful year.
