The States today have NO representation in Washington because of the passage of the 17th Amendment.

The 17th Amendement was ratified on on April 8, 1913. With its ratification the States handed over the last of their power to the Federal Government and lost any representation in Washington they had.  The Founding Fathers desired the Consitiution with many undemocratic elements in the Constitution to provide us with federal checks and balance and we lost one major federal control with the passage of the 17th Amendment.  Senator are no longer accountable to their state; but the the citizens of their state, who (let us be honest) for the most part do not care or pay attention in regards to their Sentor's actions.

This is one Amendment that should be repealed.

Brian, if the people of the state participated, as was the original intent, then there would be no problem.  This is no longer the United States, it is a country of provinces.  But when you look around at some of the states, that might not be all bad.
