FruitcakeThe date on the wall indicates a new month.

Calendar Page Turning Means No More Fruitcake.

OK, you go around the house and all is left from the parties are a few crumbs on the plate. You vow for the new year, never again this fruitcake. Fruitcake HAS to be the symbol of wanting to put some things in your life behind you.

Calendar

But calendar page flipping should represent more than just new resolutions, or new pages to the chapters of your life. They should represent a WARNING. Not a warning to put extreme fear in your life. Just a wake up call. To stop acting and living in ways which are not the direction we want to go.

Similar to that message on the side mirror on your vehicle

Warning: Dates on the calendar may be closer than they appear.

For example your lifespan. It is limited you know. Last year in our lives as far as celebrities go Paul Newman, Heath Ledger, and Tim Russert were with us. This year, poof, not so.

Significant events around us in life we see as markers are births, marriages and deaths. We are never with everyone our whole lives. Ours is a unique journey.

So allow the calendar page turning be to you a point of no return where you are done with the fruitcakes in your life. Move on to the better. I am thinking more like Lemon Meringue pie. What are you replacing YOUR fruitcake with?

HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU, embrace your new days and your POINT OF NO RETURN.

Life is what we make of it, no matter how short it may be. None of us know when our card will get punched, that's why we should never take for granted that time is running out. Happy New Year!

gary- Just dropping in to say Happy New Year. I so enjoy reading your posts and though I do not comment as often as I would like just reading them has been a true joy. Here's to a wonderful 2009 and many more of your wonderful posts.

Hi Gary-It is most definitely time to put any old fruitcakes or useless baggage in the past. Now I'll have to put the fruitcake sign with my other little sign I look at everytime I sit here. Of course I can't put them together cause that would be a negative. Even if it is still sometimes true.

Fruitcake HAS to be the symbol of wanting to put some things in your life behind you. (Only healthy symbols in my life in 2009 and beyond which starts tomorrow.)

Thank you for your never ending wisdom and support. God Bless you now and always. (((HUGS FOR YOU FOR YOUR NEW YEAR))))))))

Here is a song that will be at the center of 2009 going forward. I hope you like it.

Richard: I like your enthusiasm for the future.

Chris Ann: Time on the calendar changing does make us reflect, if we pause.

Marilyn: Change does leave holes in our life, like swiss cheese.

Russell: Departure of someone with rejoicing. Some are like that for us.

Kathleen: I suppose the homemade fruitcakes are much better. Glad you knew where Paul Newman was.

Charles: A lemon aficionado! Cool!

Jason: I used to like fruitcake, if they weren't too hard. Happy New Year.

JL: Time is running out. Move Forward, Happy New Year!

Martha: Thanks for stopping by and reading and Happy New Year!

Sharon Lee: I KNOW you will have a great new year as you are committed. That is so important. Great song of faith. Happy New Year!!

Some fruit cakes are okay! But, love lemon meringue. We have to make the best of this life God gave us.  Happy New Year.

Kathleen - Not True.  I said I didn't know him, but many Westporter's (I know) did.  He was often seen, in town, at his restaurant, at the offices of Newman's Own and even looking over my son's motorcycle.  Until the beginning of summer, Paul was planning to direct "Of Mice and Men" at the Westport Country Playhouse.

Celebrities are pretty comfortable in town, because the townspeople don't overact and they're NOT chased around by paparazzi.

Hi Gary, my problem is I totally understand what I need to change and how I can make my life better; just seems my motivation is not as consistent say around January 10th!

Gary.. I like your saying "Dates on the Calendar May Be Closer Than You Think."  I try to learn from the past.. and other than that.. I LEAVE IT BEHIND.

Gary - Yipee! No Fruitcake! Does anybody even eat it? I think there is only one fruitcake in the entire world and people just keep regifting it because nobody wants it! And what the heck is figgy pudding? Happy New Year my friend!

Gary-The only fruitcake I like is the icebox fruit cake. The others are too dry for me.  I think I will replace my fruitcake with a home made chocolate layer cake. UUUUUUUMMMMM.  Or maybe a chocolate pie. I guess you can tell I like chocolate. LOL

I agree totally! In fact in an effort to not waste time, I gave some friends a blow up fruitcake. You blow a little air into it and it looks like a regular fruitcake. When your done just let the air out and store it with the other Christmas decorations. Because lord knows nobody ever actually eats those things! LOL ;)

Gary, I did try a fruit cake this year...was not as bad as I had imagined. I am definitely replacing the fruitcake with something healthy...dark chocolate!

I have been fortunate that I have not had to eat fruitcake for at least a couple of years now.  I don't like it!

Every year when I turn the calendar I see another year that has passed where I spent little time with my children because I was trying to provide for them.  More closings and more time with the family is what I want.
