I spend a bunch of time on my bicycle. Every year I set a goal for miles that I want to ride. The last two years that goal has been 4,000 miles. This year I had many distractions. I started the year with pneumonia that got me off the bike for weeks and limited my return. Then later in the year, my dad died and I spent almost a month away from my bike and had many added tasks to help my mom as well as run my business. Because I track my cycling goal, I knew that I would reach my goal. I woke up yesterday morning and knew that all I had to do was ride 17.8 miles to reach my goal. Because I had a goal and tracked my progress, I made my goal.
I realized as I was riding yesterday, that if I was as diligent tracking my real estate goals, that I would have the same predicted success. I have done it before and I think as we get older in this business we get lazy. I know now, especially in this market, that not only do I need to plan, but I need to track that plan daily, and than no matter what happens I can adjust and still reach my goal.
