As I reflect on the New Year I can't help thinking of my parents.
My parents used to tell us stuff and I would go (to myself, you didn't smart mouth so much back then)
"That doesn't make sense."
Such as,
Clean Your Plate There Are Starving Kids in China....
I never could understand how eating all my English peas was going to help those kids.
Today I know to be happy and grateful for what I have and not take it for granted.
Because I Said So That's Why...
I really thought they should be able to give me a good explanation. Something better than this.
I told myself when I had kids I would explain things to them and I did. I now know that there were times
when I should have said to my own kids, Because I Said So That's Why...
Because You are the Oldest That's Why...
It seemed that my parents held me to a stricter standard than my sisters because I was the oldest.
Guess what, I lived.
And the Numero Uno- If you get in trouble at school, you are in trouble at home.
If we still lived like this we would have more accountability and a better world.
