The Big MOO

The Big MOO

Seth Godin did it again. He didn't write this book, but he edited it, combining the thoughts of 33 writers/thinkers/innovators/crazies that discuss the main point: Stop Trying to Be Perfect and Start Being Remarkable. Because of the short chapters, this was a great book to read while I was on the treadmill every morning. It was published in 2005 so it's not new, but somehow I missed it when it came out.

There are lots of ideas, lots of examples, lots of inspiration.

Don't say BUT. Don't fit in with expectations. Don't try to renew an existing idea. Don't be afraid.

Do BEGINBEGIN now.

Sharon

Thanks for telling Active Rain about this book.  I hadn't heard of it before now and am a huge Seth Godin fan.  It would really be something to attend one of his presentations.

Now having him come to an Active Rain get together would be really neat, Ed.

You're not kidding.  I hear that he's one of the highest paid speakers on the speaking circuit.

Thanks for the tip.  I will look into it.

Great advice!  Some times we get so bent out of shape trying to be perfect we forget to start the engine and go...

Going is more important then being perfect.

Thanks for the recommendation...

Kelly - good point. I never thought of it that way.

Kristal - you're right. The desire for perfection is the worst obstacle to accomplishment. Often when I'm making a buying decision I get Analysis Paralysis. The best way for me to stop it is to realize how much cost (i.e. the value of my time) I'm adding to the product each time I go back and analyze.

Gee, Angus Woodbury should be a big supporter of this book, if only for the name!

Sharon, I have read that book and really enjoy everything by Seth - we seem to have similar tastes in books. Great insights you gave Kristal - have a great weekend.

Jennifer, Carole and Roberta - I hope you all enjoy the book as much as I did. I'd be interested to hear any Aha results or breakthroughs you have in your business as a result.

i still slip with "but"..."but" learned long ago that "but" defeats the purpose...in other words ...whatever was said before "but' doesn't mean nadda....

I will have to go read this book...I'm one who like to continue working on me.

I would not have thought this is what the book was about by the title.....maybe, "got milk"?
