Today I happened onto Jennifer Allans' post about Celebrating the Introvert within that was announcing her new group at Active Rain.

I had seen the title in my meanderings in the past few days here at AR, but it wasn't one I thought would be something I was interested in. It wasn't until I noticed the post as I was going through the Real Estate Rookie Group (as I try to do once a week) and decided to check it out to make sure it was on topic to the group.

The connection I felt was incredible! This was me, finally, a complete description. Yes I am a possible type E, but not in the realm of outgoingness! (Is that a word?) I immediately joined the group and there, in the group, was yet another and more involved description of myself. Caring for your Introvert!

I have my own way of selling. My customers like me because I do not pressure them in any way. I am there for them, do all the back end work, make sure everything is smooth and try to advise, but ultimately, I feel it is their decision and I let them know that. So being an Introvert is not the end of the world. I love what I do and am happy in my chosen field.

I originally was going to do a blog to announce that I just became a Broker and am now a Broker Associate at Storm Realty, but hey, finding out who I was, or rather finding out that I am not abnormal, was much more exciting.

Thankyou Jennifer Allan for posting about this, you made my day!

Stay around in the Rain, and you won't be a total introvert!

It IS an amazing feeling, isn't it? What's more, to realize that you have so much to offer that you've always taken for granted. Once I figured out that I was "special" in my way made my confidence soar. So what if I'm not the life of the party?

We introverts succeed because we're GOOD at our jobs and make our clients feel well-taken care of. It comes naturally. Isn't that wonderful?

Thanks for making my evening!

Congratulations on broker license!

Joined the introvert gang...

And Jennifer said it well ....yeah, who cares if we're not the life of the party....I don't even drink or go out to parties anyway.  I love my home, I love my life and I love my home life.  I can be the life of the party with my client's and how I conduct business!

Paula,

I have been in the Rain for 10 months. It has not really changed me:) I have learned loads of stuff though!

Jason,

Glad to see you. (we are in another group together, aren't we? The group with no name) Guess that should have told us something:)

Jennifer,

I'm glad I made your evening, because you sure made mine! And no, I couldn't wait until tomorrow:) Looking forward to reading your book!

Monika,

Thankyou, actually the Broker license is a big thing! It has been on my mind for the last couple of months because I was afraid I would flunk the exam. I haven't even told my boss yet:( And it sounds weird, but yes, I did find myself here today:) Took me a long time.

Celeste,

Imagine seeing you here! You definitely appear to be an extrovert online! I also love my home life, but I always thought I was "unusual" when all my friends and family are always planning parties and get togethers, to me they are a job! I get more entertainment out of working!  Although I do like to dance!

Hi Karen - Being an introvert isn't a negsative thing.  Without people like you, we extroverts would be without an audience!  It takes both to make life more interesting.  Even though your personality is an introvert, I'm sure there are times when you need to take the role as extrovert to make yur clients needs known.

Congratulations on becoming a BROKER!

Seems to me that one of the most important qualities a real estate professional can offer a client is the ability to "go-within"...from that place comes the gift of listening. "Tell me what is most important to YOU," a question the reflective REALTOR asks a client, can only be asked authentically when one is prepared to listen. ...Thanks so much for this post, Karen!

Hi Karen - I have a pretty low-key sales personality. Rather than high pressure, it's rooted more in questions and clearly presenting data and facts, which lets clients come to their own conclusions. I like to think of it as 'quietly effective'.

HAHAHAHA, I just went over to the new group and noticed this very post has been viewed over 2000 times.  Now what does that tell you?  What happened to the comments from those 2000 + people?

P.S. notice I went over there and came back.  :D

Karen, thanks again for all the publicity of our happy little world. I hope lots of UI's wake up feeling better this morning knowing they're not alone and they're not weird! BTW, I'd be honored if you'd visit my other group - Selling Soulfully - I think you'd find lots more stuff you'd enjoy there!

Marlene,

You are right! But it's hard to shake off the way we were taught. It was always "try to be outgoing". I never had a shortage of friends or happiness, for that matter, but always felt the shadow of being the "quiet" one and some people have told me they thought I was conceited when they first met me:( Thanks for your congrats!

janeAnne,

Thank "you" for commenting on my post! I am truly honored! I like to think that I listen to my clients. Sometimes its hard not to figure out whats best for them:)  But I have my ways of persuasion also:)

John,

I like that! I actually believe the "less is more" when we are trying to make a sale. In my mind, people want to "think" about what they are doing and they don't need me to fill up their brains with garbage. I can suggest, but we need to know when to back off.

Doreen,

It could be one of two things. One that there are a lot of Introverts here that are still afraid to admit it publicly! (I suspect that there are more of us here!)  And two, that most of Active Rain is comprised of Extroverts!  Thanks for coming back:)

Dan,

I noticed that you had joined, and your Mastermind article, priceless! You should blog about it!

Karen... this sounds like a great find, for yourself that is. I think I am more like you also.. outgoing, but try not to be pushy towards my clients. Overall, I think I am so many... lol  Come to think about it.

In any case, thanks for sharing this with us.  And oh yea, congrats on the other, becoming a broker.

Gena,

Thankyou, I "am" finding myself, guess its never too late:)

Desiree,

I always envied extroverts. Now I think I am happy to be myself:)

David,

Actually it was harder than I expected it to be! I haven't been in the business that long, but  I can now quote the Law!

Ron,

Thankyou. I think we are all made up of different components, some more strongly than others. This just happened to hit me strongly when I read it.

Christy,

I like that, Or is it we are all abnormal in a normal sort of way?

Larry,

Maybe you're Normal?

Jeff,

Thankyou! I can honestly say I have earned it!  I think you are much more outgoing than I am:)

Dan,

No kidding, It's pretty bad when we can't even take time to read anymore. I haven't had time to go read the other one, but I will.

Cyndee,

It seems to happen whenever you visit one of my posts:) Good thing I don't post very much. Thankyou for the compliments.

George,

Thankyou, and after reading the article, I can now agree! Thats the great part of all this.

Donna,

Glad you found the group. Jennifer, as you will see, after you read all the posts, has a book called "Selling with Soul" which, although geared torwards new agents, is also for more seasoned agents who are Introverts.

I agree, the site is pure genius. When the groups feature started, it was kind of a mess, but now they are evolving into small pockets of expertise and types of people. We can all find our niche:)
