A message for all to take to heart!

Original content by Mitch Ribak

Hi Everyone!

I have to get off this thing before my wife divorces me.  However, I have been reading so many doom and gloom posts here lately I wanted to throw one more message out to those who choose to listen.  Firstly, the market is only as bad as you convince yourself.  Is it tough out there right now, sure it is!  You have to work twice as hard as before to make a living.  Did many of you forget that before the gravy train of 2004-2005 that we worked our butts off to make a living at probably the same pricing we are currently selling homes?  I remember my first year, in 2001, starting on Sept 10, and then the world standing still on Sept. 11, 2001.  I remember everyone telling me that this is going to negatively affect our business and that nobody was going to buy homes now.  I personally didn't get it, and proceeded to sell 36 homes my first year.  I worked my tail off and always...ALWAYS, kept a great attitude.  This is the time you need to keep a great attitude.  Your customers are going to feed off your attitude.  The market is going to feed off your attitude.

Problems...we all have problems.  We have personal problems and we have business problems.  We have problems with our kids and we have problems with our cars.  We have other Agents back stabbing us to steal our customers, and customers who have no loyalty to you or any other Agent.  Yes, we all have problems.  I was at a seminar two weeks ago, Tony Robbins, and brought up a great point about this market.  He said that everyone has problems.  The only people that have no problems are in graveyards.  So you two choices, you can mope around blaming your problems for the reason you are struggling in business right now, or you can embrace your problems and look at them as a challenge for you to conquer.  I'm a big believer of handling everything with a smile.  I know that no matter what happens I have a wife and children who will be there for me if I fall down.  Money, I can always make money doing something if I need to pay the bills.  My point is, embrace your problems and don't worry about them.  Worrying about them is not going to help you get past them.  And guess what?  Once you figure out this problem, there will be another one in a few days, weeks or months.  There always is and there always will be problems.  No biggy.  Just take a step back, work on a solution, and jump back into the game.  I believe when you wake up each morning you can choose to be happy or unhappy.  I choose to be happy! You should too!

Good luck in 2009.  Keep on smiling, working hard and being honest and you will be rewarded with success both personally and professionally.  :)

Gayle, I hadn't seen this post and Mitchell makes some good points.  What DO we want to dwell on?  I know this is going to be a wonderful year!
