When we had a hot market in 2004 and 2005 you didn't have much time to do a lot of networking. However, in 2005 I decided to join a business networking group to brush up on my networking skills and to establish some contacts with other entrepreneurs. The networking group also gives you an opportunity to refine your public speaking skills. We have a speaker rotation so that everyone in the group can present their business and explain to the group who would be a good referral for you.
This association with the networking group has allowed me to get involved with some Chamber of Commerce activities and presentations to other groups about what I do and how my services can benefit them. The more networking I do the more contacts I make and the more I can get the word out about my services.
Reasons to Network
One on one contact helps you establish rapport
It's the least expensive form of marketing your business
You can also help others with your business contacts
So if you want to increase your business get out and network.
