"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen.  "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

I came across the above quote while sorting through some email today. As Realtors, we get A LOT of email. This one just happened to catch my eye as it was quotes pertaining to business planning for 2009. Seeing as how I JUST opened up my own brokerage, business planning is certainly ON. THE. RADAR!

I read that quote, and I smiled. Over the last 2 months I have flip-flopped between thinking "Am I NUTS?" to "I can do it!". Each day brings a different level of confidence. Of "go get 'em-ness". Of guts. Of faith.

Ahhh, faith.

You see, faith is in fact the thing I have strengthened in the last 2 months. It's those moments when I question myself, "Can I do this?" and "What if I fail?" when I remember that "I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me".

Although many would look at the economy and think that starting a real estate company NOW - in this economy -  is impossible, I would beg to differ. NOW is the time to take action. Because when the market picks up...AND IT WILL...I'll be ready.

In 2009 I will think about the above quote daily. I am challenging myself to think 6 impossible things before breakfast. I am also challenging YOU. Just think how much you could accomplish this year by JUST DOING IT! Think IMPOSSIBLE!

Hi Kim: Congrats on opening your brokerage.  Febuary 1st will by my 4th anniversary and I still LOVE IT.  Personally I'm not trying to get agents under me my brokerage just has 3 agents and it works GREAT but that's me.  I can't imagine doing it without Christ, he is my CEO.

Congratulations Kim on opening your own brokerage. I respect and I understand your feelings and uncertainity on opening a brokerage during this unstable market. I have been a successful Realtor for the past 5 years in Saskatoon, Canada; however, in November my husband and I moved to Calgary, Canada and I resumed my real estate career here. Most people thought that I was crazy leaving a city where I was established and doing really well to move to another city and to start real estate in this economic crisis. But, to grow as a person sometimes you just have to take that chance. I know that there will be trials and tribulations over the next year or so, but, I also know that the risk I have taken will pay off in the future. Yes, it is normal to be afraid of the unknown; however, I agree with you 100% if you don't JUST DO IT you will never succeed and be happy.

Again, congratulations and all of the best in 2009! You and your new brokerage will be a huge success!

Kim - I want to tell you that I AM cheering you on - for your success. I love the scripture as I speak that into my life everyday when I feel I have no more strength to even walk to bed. I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.

In 2007, I was pregnant and I went out on my own to finish out my Broker's requirements and went on to start my brokerage. I've never looked back since.

When others ask me whom I'm with, I tell them that I'm the Broker of my company. Their responses, "Good for you!" and they say it with great enthusiasm. That gives me the ummph to face the OPPORTUNITIES of my day.

Kim, I wish you and your sister well in your endevours. You can do it, I know that! Love ya.
