Conserve Water - Save MoneySan Antonio is suffering an extreme drought.  Since September, 2007, we've had only 16.4" of rain in the San Antonio area.  That just isn't enough rain to recharge the Edwards Aquifer.  Here's one way to help postpone water usage restrictions.

You can get a FREE home water conservation audit.  It only takes a few minutes but it could save you some money.  Here's how it works:

  • A trained conservation water auditor checks all your water connections - toilets, faucets, spigots - for leaks.
  • The auditor can also check your irrigation system (if you have one) to determine how it's performing and evaluate existing turf and soil conditions.
  • The auditor will also recommend effective ways to conserve and, if needed provide you with low-flow shower heads and aerators - FREE!

Why Should We Be Saving Water???

  • To save money on our water bills.
  • To help our community and our long-term water needs.

Contact San Antonio Water System (SAWS) to request more information about a Free Home Water Audit by dialing 704-SAVE.

Hi Judi.,..  a free water audit?  That sounds great... because usually nothing is ever for free. In any case, wow, hardly any rain. Your information is right on point, just to see if there are any slight leaks or to much water running when using it.... Happy New Year..

Hi Jeff, thanks for stopping by.  There was an article in today's paper about the drought plus there's an increase in water rates this month so thought I share some water conservation tips.

Happy New Year!!  Hope to get up that way later in the year -- to visit my daughter.  Hope we can schedule time for lunch or dinner with you.

Judi, I just read that Rhode Island has had its wettest year since they started keeping records! Too bad I couldn't  send you some. There's more than enough around here.

Karen, hope you had a very Happy Birthday!  :)   Yeah, everytime we've talked lately, you've mentioned it was raining or snowing.  Send some down here -- we really need it.  In Spring & Summer of 2007, we had 40 some days of rain -- now, we can't get even one good day of rain.

Judi,

We purchased a front load washing machine, uses a lot less water, cloes a better job of cleaning, and also reduced drying time.

Judi that is nice to know. Consering water by fixing water leaks really jumped out to my attention. More damage is done in homes in the kitchen and bath from faucet and pipe leaks; therefore I encourage everyone if you have a leaky faucet "get er fixed".

Carl, yes, I see it all the time.  Especially the pipe leaks under the bathroom or kitchen sinks -- the cabinets get ruined too and then they need a new cabinet besides getting the leak repaired.

Carl, tell Ceil, thank you -- I like the new look too.  Still need to do some work on it.  If you're coming from I-35 from New Braunfels, it's past Rolling Oaks -- closer to 281.  The next exit after Bulverde Rd. -- take the Redland Rd/Gold Canyon Exit -- the office is in the strip center on the North side of 1604 & Redland.  Look for Bourbon Street Cafe and our office is in the same center -- just 2 doors down.

I'll most likely be in the office some on Tuesday & Thursday.  Monday & Wednesday I have meetings elsewhere -- called The Woman's Club.  Don't know about Friday -- need to stay here and work -- I have a list -- plus need to organize my office here at home.  I have all the stuff from the desk at the former company in boxes stacked around my home office and need to find places to put it and get rid of stuff, I won't need anymore.

Judi just wanted to get some idea as to location. Getting across the 1604 can be a little hectic but what isn't hectic these days getting around San Antonio. Growing Pains.

LOL, Karen, it's all your fault?!?!!  Please wish it back - not wo much we get flooding but enough to replenish our aquifer so we don't have to go under Water Restrictions.

You got waterberry -- I got orangeberry -- hmmm, do they still have elderberry floating around here???  I haven't seen it in a long time.
