As a kid in the Northeast, I remember building snow forts, digging elaborate tunnels and constructing maine snowmobile trail groomers, shin pond maine, mooers realtysnowman in the back yard with neighbor kids.

The snowman we Maine kids built depended on the temperature, kind of snow and the size/ ambition of the work force of kids.  What's that large shadow? It's from Olympia...a mountain of snow built by the Maine town of Bethel that already held the record for tallest snowman.  Over 13 million pounds and over 122 feet tall!

In winter, Maine kids don't hibernate inside camped out on the couch vegging on television and video games, or destroying whole pizzas or gallons of soda.  They entertain themselves, get lungs full of fresh Maine air and rosy cheeks from fun and games outdoors.  maine real estate broker, mooers realty, andrew mooersMaine ski areas have plenty of snow for holiday school break winter recreation from downhill events, tubing, snowsledding,  bon fires and family fun to celebrate the season. Maine..the way life should be. Come for a day, stay for a life time.

That is really cool!  I mean really cold! How did they do that?  With cranes?

They have a crane, with shovel or bucket and like a layer cake or wedding creation, built, stack, go higher like a sky scaper!  Kinda neat!  One snowman said to another "Hey...me too! I smell carrots too!"

Andrew, that is one totally amazing snowman!  And I agree that out playing in the snow is a whole lot better for kids than computer games and The Cartoon Channel!  Happy New Year!

Some snow was ideal and sticky and packed well...the kind for snowballs fights.  We used to take plastic buckets and one guy would make "blocks" and another stacked them and one kid's mom would give us hot chocolate to warm the insides.  We worked hard enough and had mittens and scarves buddling us up that grammy had knit so no one cold.  As kids we entertained ourselves, did not get bored, depressed.  We were busy!

Very Cool..thanks for sharing, unfortunately in Iowa we don't get enough snow to do much on a regular basis. If we are lucky the snow is good enough for packing or sledding.
