Photo courtesy of foobean01On January 1, my bank updated the security on my account. Normally this would be a great thing, but then I realized that my website wasn't working and I wasn't receiving any e-mails.

What happened is that my website and e-mail service are out of Canada and my bank stopped all accounts within its system from having auto withdrawals from foreign companies to help protect their members.

The problem came on December 31st at 11:59pm when my website was set for auto renewal and the account was blocked. So my website and e-mail were shut down until this morning when I was able to get a hold of my bank and get everything back in order.

So, if you were trying to send me an e-mail, even through Activerain, between midnight New Years Eve and this morning at 10am, please resend it as your messages are important to me.

What a mess.  Thankfully you were able to get it cleared up.  Looks like people at that bank weren't thinking very clearly when the decided to block Canada.      OK, I came back to get it straight.  (I think, LOL)  Why didn't they notify you??

Yikes...  without any warning?  They just up and stopped something that you've been doing for a very long time without telling you?  I'm glad you're back in business but I hope you didn't lose any business because of it!

Its always something isnt it? I love it when someones decision makes us unknowingly a victim of hours of work to correct.

Due to things like that and all the social media outlets I spent the entire day on Thursday updating password and sites.

Good post

Morning Tadd,

Many banking institutions upgraded their security on the first. Thankfully ours notified us in advance. Glad you were able to get things corrected in short order.

there were a TON of sites that had glitches.  did you read the article about the ZUNE mp3 players?  apparently the programmers didn't account for leap years so they all froze up and stopped working at the same time.  creepy!

Todd, just like with Active Rain, many organizations make changes, and don't tell their users. Sounded like it created a hassle for you.

Todd

What a lot of work that must have been to get it moving again. It even drives us more nuts when it is not by our action.

Sincerely
