Photo Guess - 2nd clue....

Yesterday I posted Can you guess where I took this photo? Well there were some great guesses (check them out)...

However no winner yet! So I decided we need another clue

Here is the 2nd Clue... I also took this photo at the same place:

and this photo also was taken in Charlottesville Virginia!

Laura - no I took the photos in Charlottesville....

I am going with something in Washington that recognizes the states. Not sure what. By the look at the wear it looks like something that is embeded in the sidewalk

Tony - one of the clues (from the first post) is that you very likely have these in your town too...

OK...at first I thought you took the photo at your Municipal Building there...

Hmmmm...It's on a stone...I have a guess, it's probably silly...are these on grave stones?

Charles, Based on the compass point in the Charlottsville post, and the general geographic position of LA, it must be a bearing to where certain cities are located in relationship to Charlottsville...

Remember - both photos were taken in Charlottesville....

Charles, I agree with Tony, these markers are embedded in a walk and are pointers to cities - all in relationship to Charlottsville. Maybe something to do with the Civil War as VA was part of the CSA...

Russ - That might expain the Charlottesville photo but why New Orleans (over 1000 miles away)...

Could this be in a Confederate cemetary? Markers to where soldier came from?

Charles, based on the position of NO and NY being opposite compass points in relationship to Charlottsville, it must be cities that, if you drew a line from city to city on a map, the line would pass through Charlottsville. The markers are either in a square or in a park somewhere.

I'll throw in a guess. Are they from Monticello?

I know that's close to town.

I don't know...the war memorial?

Charles, I know that I am close but no cigar. I need to know which answer I gave is the most correct. I have seen these before in other cities but I cannot remember what they are called. I do not recall seeing one of these in Franklin though.
