1. Call a real estate agent who can look up listings in the multiple listing.
2. Look up classified section of local newspaper . Many have online classifeid section.
3.If you have a pet the chances of finding a pet friendly place are less. Be prepared to offer a pet deposit and also a letter from previous landlord.
4.Most owners would like to rent to tenants with good credit. If it is not good, have a letter explaining the credit issues and be prepared to pay a security deposit which depends on State laws.Have a copy of your credit report so that you have it handy and they need not run a new report if they have no intention of renting it to you.
5.Craigslist is a great place to find rentals. There are other sites as well.
