The personal touch.....

By
Real Estate Agent with Exit Realty Optimum

We all know how important the online factor is to the Real Estate business; but IMHO the personal touch will always be at the centre of customer satisfaction and networking.

This week I began door-knocking my neighborhood, which is also my farm district......simply to introduce myself, wish my neighbors a Happy New Year and leave them with a gift of a magnetic fridge calendar [with my business card attached].

People are more likely to keep a calendar than a newsletter so this will be my brand 'me' strategy for January.

So far the response has been positive....and hey, it's good exercise!

From winter wonderland......have a great weekend!

Melva...good for you!  I hope all your neighbors buy from you...I should do this...I don't know why, but I find it sort of intimidating, and first do the mailer/phone thing.  But I will try to fit this method in as well...

Knocking on doors, good for you.  They also will know you are a hard working agent who is pro active.  Great way to start 2009 and keep up the presence.  Also way to go killing two birds with one stone, exercise and networking!

Kristin.....the first couple of knocks are the hardest....then you get your confidence up! Most people respond well to a smiling face, which is hard to convey by phone.

And since it's difficult to door-knock your whole area,  try fitting it in with your other methods as you've suggested. I think variety is a good thing as well as helping to keep us motivated!

Good luck with this.....

Melva, good idea, I wonder if we have become too enamored with technology and forget the human touch.

Melva -  good for you!   I do that with my database but have gotten away from doing it with the general public.  I am targetting a different market this year and you've given me the budge in the right direction.  Thanks and here's hoping 2009 is Divine!!!!

Hi Melva, Good for you.  Any touch is important.  The best is a combination of all types of contact, personal, phone and on-line.

Amber....I think personal connections give us the motivation we need to keep going, especially during challenging times. It's at the root of what we do and a win-win situation for all! Happy 2009!
