I Want To Buy Your Talking House Transmitters!

By
Real Estate Agent with EXIT REALTY BEND

I am looking for used, but fully operational "Talking House Transmitters."  I don't need the signage , but need only the transmitters and AC adapters.

There must be a few of you out there who no longer use the product....and if they are working I am interested in purchasing them from you.  Please.  They must be working.

I have six of the 3 minute models and prefer that they are no older than six years old.  Talk to me!

My guess, since this product has been around forever, is that they were tossed long ago- talk about a waste of money...have you tried you local dump?

Geeze Laurie. Let me guess....years ago you fell victim to the hope that this product was an effective tool, well worth the expense....and....ah......well.....the Talking Houses were a complete bust!  Yikes!

Really though, Laurie, these units have been the tipping point to several of my listing presentations.  It is a great tool to "get in the door" of FISBO clients and provide FREE assistance so that, when they don't sell, you are at Top of Mind!  It can work.

Enjoyed your comment....you put a smile on my face this morning .....gotta go......the landfill is about 7 miles down the road and I got business to do!

I can tell you that the TALKING HOUSE Does NOT work in the New England area. Nobody cares if I have the transmitters or not. I TRIED TO RETURN THE TRANSMITTERS WITHIN THE 90 DAY PERIOD; BUT THE COMPANY REFUSED TO ACCEPT THEM. They said I was "lazy" and didn't use the program correctly. Although, I did exactly what they said to do. THE TALKING HOUSE IS A SCAM. They told me to sell them on Ebay. Well, they aren't worth $500.00 on Ebay....I sure don't want to pay $2,000.00 for them. If they really believed in their product, they would take them back. SCAM.

Randy.  Not sure if you ever sold your units.  Looks like ebay does well for many Talking House sellers. Still want to sell them?  How many do you have?  How much?

Honestly, I understand your frustration, surprised the company would not allow the return.  Not cool for sure. However, I have been a homeowners association hero when I allowed them to USE my transmitters on a major corner announcing neighborhood garage sales, meeting times, etc.

Churches love to use them for church summer school announcements.  Private schools like them for informational centers for registration for classes.

Maybe try something creative.  Perhaps you can salvage some good from them.

If you are still interested in some talking house transmitters I have 4.  Three are still in the box.  I purchases them in January 2008.  I would like to get at least $250 for all four.

Hi, everyone! I am in Northern Ohio, and I had great luck with the Talking House program & eqpt! I have 7 units, all bought within a year or two of each other, and I had them on almost all of my Listings for sale, with great feedback & results! It's a great tool, and I was happy to have them, but our market changed, and my Lisc is now in escrow. I will sell my transmitters (like new!) for $75 each, which is a great deal, as they were close to $300 each, when I bought them! All you need is a small microphone to get started, which is available at most electronics stores.

I bought my 3 Talking House transmitter package deal for about 1,800 dollars from the company around 2001.  I bought the ATU, which is a cheaply constructed piece of plastic. Was able to get a strong signal for about 3/4 of a mile and weak for another 1/4 of a mile.  So the distance wasn't to bad if perched high atop a 60 foot tower.  The main problem is when the wind, rain and snow make your 102 inch whip antenna sway, the antenna will not resonate properly with the ATU device and match the transmitter. Thus your signal will not tune and peak properly.  So you have to climb up to the tower, open the ATU box and retune the ATU with the antenna and the transmitters selected frequency.  I would like to see Talking House have a remote control for this purpose.  The reason is that everytime theres a heavy rain, snow or heavy winds, the ATU has to be retuned  again with the antenna and frequency. The other complaint I have is that theres no audio processing and the transmitter will not modulate up to 100% or more. I also believe that it would have better match-ing if the impedance of the transmitter and cable was at 50 Ohms rather than 75 Ohms. With 50 Ohms the transmitter would match the impedance of the antenna on the ATU. Thus there would be some improvement in the signal strength. The other thing is the terrible hum.  I've tried to ground the chasis. Ground the control board and other audio equipment, such as computer, cd players etc, and the hum is still there.  Wish I would have known about the Procaster and the Hamilton Rangemaster before buying from Talking House. The new company that owns Talking House haven't made anyimprovements to there equipment since 2001.

transmitter will not modulate up to 100 % or more.

The new Talking House transmitter modulates better and has better fidelity. But for realestate you can't beat computers. You can receive pictures and detailed information from the convienance of your home. The only way a Talking House is anygood is when you use the ATU and go up about 60 feet in the air and have a good ground. I believe the only way to go is with Dayco FM stereo transmitters with a high gain antenna.

Funny all the detractors out there.  Before I got the ATU which is at 30 feet and gives me a range of just under 2 miles, I used a home brew base loaded long wire antenna which gave me around a mile of range.  it's all in proper location.  Just like real estate, good signal is all about location, location location!!!  Of course the results you get are a direct porportional result of the effort you put into it.  When set up and used properly the TH 5 unit has better range than either the SStran or the Rangemaster.  As far as the hum some people get, try a ground liip isolator in the audio feed line.  That is the easiest solution.  The reason it hums is because you are grounding the tx and whatever you are feeding into it to the same ground which causes the signal to leak into the ground and resonate setting up a 60 cycle hum.  Of course if you have a bad ground then you are in serious trouble.  unplug the ausio source from the tx and if it stops humming that is your problem and a GL isolator will fix it.  If it still hums with the audio feed unpluged, you have a bad ground and need to look into your circuit grounding.  The ATU is just more than a tunning unit.  It is actually an aux tx and acts as the final stage which is why you can use it without violating part 15 rules.

How do I know this stuff?  I actually have done instead of reading it in a blog.  Oh and running a community part 15 station with 10 TH setups as relays covering an entire town...
