The blog by Kristal Kraft was an interesting thread about the Russian professor that predicted that US could break up into several countries influenced by other countries.
Here's the post if you want to catch up: Doom and Gloom
This blog is about doing something about the issues behind the article, not just saying "ain't so".
This is not the first time I've seen studies done on the separatists movements in this country. Google that term for the US and you'll see there are literally hundreds of groups that want to get out of the US government boondoggle.
Some for racist reasons, some for economic, some for real freedom, some to get away from "W" (Vermont).
If anyone has been paying any attention to the elections of the last few cycles, there are very powerful forces in play that lend credence to the article by the professor.
Reactions have been "never", to "I can see that".
Personally, this is a big conern to me. I see our nation being slowly destroyed by the acute partisanship that has taken hold in our politics. Very few seem to espouse America First. It seems to be "My PARTY first".
Oh, everyone denies it saying that their positions are America first, when in fact they have very little congruency with the Constitution as originally written, but with the distorted and twisted logic that is today's "interpretation".
However, recognizing that we will never convince anyone else on a logical basis (simply because logic left the debate a long time ago) and that when asked, most people are fed up with the way things are going, I've created a little group called the Armadillo Party. Its goal is to start dialog to keep this country from splitting at the seams.
This is not a party in the usual political sense, but more a frame of mind that captures the discontent of most voters and provides a humorous way to express our disatisfaction and to explore possibilities of finding common ground through off-the-wall solutions.
One of my "off-the-wall" ideas is to take two states, repeal all laws except the constitution, and let the citizens of the respective states to run them according the the two major political positions in this country. One run Red, One run Blue.
Let that happen for about 10-15 years and see how they each turn out. That would provide the imperical evidence as to which way works better. Then the political rift could be bridged.
Right now, the whip-saw of Left/Right government is not getting anywhere. Its tug-of-war with no real progress being made.
Check out my Armadillo Party Blog and see what you think. Contribute your own unique ideas in a humorous way.
