I know what you're thinking....and you're right!!!

I'd like to say tat every dog has it's day. Today my wife and daughter convinced me to go stop by and visit an animal rescue center nearby. Two days ago we were over at the animal shelter and left without anything other than a receipt for all the dog food we donated. Well today I have to say that we are now the proud owners of a new addition to the family.

Please meet Roxy....she's about 6-7 months old according to her foster parents. She's very friendly and gentle and loves my daughter. Maybe now she'll take some responsibility and let me rest! I just went through 17yrs of wonderful love but it was tough on me because of the commitment. It seems that this girl doesn't warm up to men as easy as women but I think we'll become closer as the days go by and she learns who's hand will be feeding her most of the time.

Please meet Roxy!

OHHHHHH Roxy is one darned cute puppy!   Neal, congratulations to you and your family.   You're right - I'm sure Roxy will warm up to you with the same affection as she has for your daughter.  Trust can build slowly in animals (just like with humans)

Oh Neal, I am so happy for you and your family. I know it was time. I can't wait to read about some of her antics from you. Of course she will not replace your other dog, they can't be replaced, but your heart will open and grow bigger. I know I have 5 kids, 4 dogs and a kitten.

Roxy is getting a little more adapted to her new home...the only thing we know is she is some sort of terrier mix...we think maybe a Stafford or Welsh mix from pictures we saw but we can't be sure...it's a bit weired for me because she doesn't go to the bathroom in the house much when I was so used to taking out a dog every hour on the hour for the last yr so it is taking some getting used to ...she actually slept on our bed last night but I'm still not sure how warmed up to me she'll be...I'm so used to a male dog...very weired right now and I still have mixed emotions.

Looks almost like a touch of wired haired terrier which have similar personalities as Jacks.  Too cute!  Vitto is Mike's.  Even though I feed him and take him to the park and do more stuff with him, he still likes Mike more, go figure!

Hi Neal- As I was reading the comments and seeing that you are adjusting to the differences of Roxy and Roscoe, I thought this would be a great journal of her merging into the family.  Yes, she's different, and I think Nannette's comment made a lot of sense....she knows your heart is for another.  I think that you will end up winning her over, or vice versa once the other girls go to NY for a couple days.  Yep then she'll have time just with you, and I think that will be it :)  She is a little cutie :)

Hi Neal!  Saw your new post and thought I'd ask how Roxy is doing but, that wasn't the post to ask that question on!  So, how's it going?  Has she warmed up to you?

Have a great weekend...

Congratulations Neal with Roxy. It is time. Good job. More unconditional bundle of love BACK in your life. You and Roxy are best buds! Even if it is another woman in the house : ) We've had several female dogs. They are fine.

Roxy appears to be pretty healthy and vibrant so far. We plan to take her to our vet this week just to make sure. She still has issues with males....including me but she is going to puppy training for 6 weeks so hopefully she'll change her tune.

Really cute and really lucky dog. Its super that you support the animal shelters and adopt from them.  The dogs that I've adopted have all been great family members. Bet Roxy has you wrapped around her little paw already.  Enjoy.
