Gary a useful guideline but I truly believe they don't make them to last as long these days, even if they  are top of the line.

Thanks, Gary.  This is good info to have.  I'm going to print and save it!

Jennifer, you're right that things don't seem to last as long, but how many of us actually take care of and maintain our appliances and homes the way they should be?  If we don't, the life span will surely be shortened.  The part of the country you live in can make a difference too.  Here in south Florida our A/C systems are run just about continually all year long, so that would shorten the life too.

Good point Elizabeth I wonder if that list is effected by geographic location like the air conditioner example in Fla. How about warm air funaces in Az as opposed to ND? But non the less this list provides a good guideline, thanks Gary.
