As everyone knows a bunch of us met up on a roof top in Laguna Beach.  We has a few drinks, a lot of laughs and found that we shared some interesting characterisitics..more about that later... But first.. the players:

Joe Ferrara and Rudy Bachraty from Sellsius were the hosts for this fun event..

Laurie Manny.. the Queen of Long Beach  who may or may not be related to Brian Brady, America's Most Opinionated Mortgage Broker who was there with his fellow Bloundhound contributor Morgan Brown  Blown Mortgage Blog  along with Mr Blog or as he is now known Mr Move.. Dustin Luther Rain City Guide .  These guys shared stories about blogging with newcomers Tisza Major-Posner  Route 66 Living Blog and Kelly Kilpatrick of A Key to the City Blog. Meanwhile Rory Siems who writes Laguna Niguel Real Estate Blog chatted with Sara Washburn , Mrs Active Rain, and Saras Active Rain Blog.. Loren Nason our tech guru The Future of Real Estate Technology Blog kept tabs on us.  Sadly he didn't keep a close enough eye on my camera or maybe the operator.  Yesterday when I looked at the pictures I found that they had been tampered with by men from outer space or perhaps the ghosts of Old Laguna as the photos had some strange lights along with a little snap, crackle and pop but not one usable picture...

While getting to know each other better a number of us found that we not only shared a love of fun and blogging but.....

Joe Ferrara and I are not just  Aquarius people but we actually share the same birthday..I never meet anyone who shares my birthday... Many of our fellow bloggers are Scorpios... But here are  a few more similarities.. at least four of us are first born children from families of three children.  Our parents, if they are living, are still married or stayed married until the death of one of the spouses. Lots of our blogging buddies were raised as Catholics with many stories about their school days.. I seemed to be the lone Baptist.

We are verbal.. for such a small group we made ourselves known in a good way.. everyone wanted to know who we were and what blogging was about. We share a sense of humor about the world and our place in it.. I know my voice was gone from laughing so much.. or maybe from talking so much or maybe both.  We have definite opinions and don't mind expressing..err.. sharing them with the world.

Now I don't know how many of us who blog have similar backgrounds but would  love to find out ...

Kelli-It will be fun to see how many things we all share.. I would have loved some pics.. but strange things have been happening.. they have also disappeared from the camera.. and pics never disappear from this camera.. have to delete  1 x 1..

Sally- Ok..looks like being very verbal is a definite shared characteristic.. as is families of three.. wonder how many things we will wind up with in common..

I am a Capricorn, a Baptist born and raised in the south, the youngest of two, do not like to cause conflict, but will not back down from what I believe is right. Never knew what A/R or blogging was really about until 3 weeks ago.........am now hooked on this stuff.

Keith-Oh Goodie another  Baptist..    Bloggers need a strong sense of right and wrong..  an addictive personality also seems to be a big plus.. or a necessity.. as you have only been blogging a few weeks there is still time to find a family of three so you can fit  more of the criteria.

Wow, that's a lot of similarities! Sounds like it was a rewarding night. What I like best about your summary is "sense of humor about the world and our place in it." Great perspective!

How funny, Kaye.  I'm a first-born, Catholic school educated, child of two still married parents.  I never thought I could be profiled as a "most likely to blog".

Kaye, I so much enjoyed Friday.  Meeting you was an absolute treat.  I knew if we all made the time to get together it would be fun.  let's face it, though.  You realy can't have a bad time with people who are so much like you. (and the location didn't hurt either)

Kaye,

Sounds like you all had fun - ok, because you asked...I'm the 1st born of 3 kids to parents that are still married. My Dad was Catholic but we were raised Presbyterian, however, my husband & I converted to Catholicism 10 years ago this Easter. I'm a Sagittarius.

Hey there beach gurl,

Oldest of 3, raised Catholic, Catholic schools until I refused strongly, parents still married, Scorpio, confessed blog-a-holic. Blogging must be instantly addictive the way I have heard crack is because I caught it immediately.

Brian, its not about most likely to blog, it's about the people who are drawn to each other immediately and strongly without an apparent reason almost chemically.  I discovered a while back that often their "base" is similar to the extreme.

Kaye, I had such a great time, you are a blast.  My face hurt the entire next day from laughing so much. '

Love ya,

Laurie

Brian- I was really amazed at  how many of us were the oldest of 3 children and had parents who never divorced..Who knew stability would provide us with a mission in life....

It was just terrific that we could finally meet face to face.. you are a delight  with a wonderful sense of humor.. Yes it was a wonderful place...So next time I'll avoid the train and maybe we can all go early and catch the sunset..

No question Bloggers are a different breed...there was not one awkward moment.. just instant recognition of kindred spirits...

Kaye, you are right, not one awkward moment.  If you really step back and think about that, that is really sumptin!

I have often thought about how many people are active in real estate across the country and how few, if any, in each market have gravitated toward blogging, SEO and promoting their business's on the internet.  Those that have, are not even necessarily the most successful in each market, many are new agents.

In my opinion, the difference is vision.  The ability to see the changes coming and finding kindred spirits in the battle.  So many people are in denial, we have had to stretch ourselves and find others like us in markets across the country.  If you really think about it, this is the only thing that has really made the open sharing possible.

How many agents would the top of Google really support?

They will all be coming up eventually, they really won't have a choice.  All we can hope for is that we are so far ahead that we will retain our positions.

A good reason to be VERY busy right now.

Loved out time together Kaye.  Though I'm a born and bred NYer, I'm developing an attachment to SoCal.  And it's not just the gorgeous weather and beautiful scenery.  It's the people I've met.  I've learned through my travels that we (especially bloggers) love to bond, share and laugh--- that this transcends time (age) and space (location).  We are all one under the sun.  What's great about the meet-ups is we get to bond, share & laugh face to face, smile to smile, wine glass to wine glass and not through an ethernet connection.  Besides, the wine tastes better when it's shared.

PS Oldest of 3, raised Catholic (altlar boy, Catholic high school), parents divorced when I was a teen.  2 out 3.

Laurie- You are so right.. We think there are a lot of us out there but reality is that we are essentially still a small community. I believe as you do that we still have the opportunity to get so far ahead it will be hard to catch up.. not impossible but hard for many.  The one thing I see that will set blogging part from what happened when agents finally figured out they needed a web site is that blogging is a personal effort.  Those who have succeded so far in this endeavor have established themselves by using their own voice.  But who knows what the future will bring.. I'm with you ...do as much as you can as fast as you can before the rest of them figure it out..

I'm a Scorpio, too. There is a real estate office downtown, a satellite office for a large franchise, and 5 of the 6 agents there are Scorpios.

Glad you all had fun, regardless of signs.

Joe- 2 out of 3 is never bad.. You and Rudy have a distinct advantage being able to travel around and meet with so many in our community.   We are quite a mix and bring varying viewpoints to our blogs. Yet as I found out Friday we all seem to have much in common.  and yes.. the best wine is always the one you can share with your friends.. Thank you for making that possible Friday night..

and that...explains why we've sparred, Joe. The Jesuits insisted on debating with us when we were young and impressionable.  Everyone knows that you can't tell the oldest child anything; he's always right.

Kaye - thanks for sharing. You guys had so much fun! Just to stay in the loop - I have a younger sister on the East coast, my parents were together until my father died about 15 years ago of cancer; I, too, am a scorpio, but don't hold that against me. Raised Methodist, left that, later became Lutheran. Real estate is my 4th career. More later when we all get together?
