When staging this model home for the H45 Lofts, I needed an inexpensive way to create art for it's 23 foot ceiling height. I found this great fabric by Marimekko and made a 14 foot tall panel with rods sewn into the top and bottom to make it hang straight. It gave a much needed blast of color against the gray concrete walls. Of course we needed a very long ladder. I confess to letting my assistant climb up there to hang it ... too scary for me! But it looked great and cost less than $400. You can see more photos of this room at Pangaea Interior Design, Model Home Decor and Staging.  You can also view a virtual tour of this loft at 360pdx.com.

Pangaea,

The fabric adds warmth and nicely highlights the height of the room.   I checked the virtual tour.  Great work!   The touches of orange in the fabric and art works you have selected complement very well the white, gray, brown and black of the floor, walls, carpet and furniture in the loft.  Welcome to ActiveRain and congrats on your first two posts!

Fabulous work. Glad you posted the before and after. It truly makes a world of difference. Your contemporary staging was so striking yet warm and inviting.

Kudos!

Gerry, thanks for welcoming me to AR. Since these were my first attempts to post, I was astonished to get comments within less than an hour. I thought my postings would be lost in the blogosphere. Do you mind my asking how you arrived at my posting? A particular search term? Checked out your site btw. Beautiful town! I'm in the country about 45 min. from Portland. Live on a river within 30 min. of Mt. Hood. I love living in the country with my husb/dogs/cats ... but love to decorate & stage contemporary homes the best.

All the best,

Pangaea

Pangaea,

I logged in on AR last night and when I clicked on Blogs to check out some posts, your second post appeared on the screen as my view was showing the most recent posts.   From your post, I checked your blog and that is when I noticed (from the date of your first post) that you had just recently posted both posts.   I saw your photo of the Marimekko fabrioc in this post and from it I went to check your website and virtual tour to get a better idea of the staging that you do (very impressive and it shows you love doing what you do!).   You never know who is going to run across any of your posts and when.  Whatever you put in the blogosphere, it can only add to your marketing and increase your chances to get some additional business.  In my case, there was no search term used to run across your post, but they say that the more you blog and do postings, the more your chances increase to be discovered through a search.   I was a bit skeptical of this but I just recently discovered that my name shows up in the first page of a Yahoo search when searching for Red Lodge Realtor.   Do a search on the Yahoo search engine for 'Interior Design Portland Loft' and see what comes up (I saw a link to this post on the first page and that can only help to get more traffic to your website).  Thank you for the nice comment about my town.  I love living in Red Lodge.  There is no traffic light in town nor in the entire county (Carbon County) and people wave at each other when they pass by each other in a car.

All the best,

Gerry

Beautiful use of the Marimekko fabric, and a great punch of color for the modern space. I recently used four Marimekko fabric patterns in a similar fashion for the Opening Night Gala event for the Mill Valley Film Festival. I fabricated table runners (48 of them, thank you very much) for the round tables, as well as several hanging banners much like yours. I couldn't believe how it transformed a large room into such a festive space!  I love your work, and look forward to seeing more of your posts!  Leslie
