To start off the year (a few days late), this month you can download a really nice calendar/wallpaper at Diane Aurit's Lake Norman blog. This is the first in a series we'll be doing together.

Karen Anne... hi there, this Twitter scam caught a lot of people off guard today because it looked the the direct messages came from friends they followed on Twitter. Not fun!

I wasn't ready to post tonight but when the Twitter thing hit the fan I decided to put this out so a few more people would be aware of what's going on. Nite!

I get the Twitter e-mails every day. I'm guilty of clicking from the message, out of convenience. You're right. We would never do that for a bank acount, or anything tied to our finances, yet we think nothing of those notifications. Great advice.

Marti, got caught up in all that myself. Received a twitter with a link from 2 fellow AR members and thought it was ok only to find that I had opened myself up to the phish. Tried changing my password but not with the proper link and had to tackle that again this morning. Hopefully, all is well, now.

Thanks for posting, I am sure people are doing this. But to be sure, exit your browser completly, open and type in twitter. Don't follow any links or open a new tab or directly type in browser window without closing. The newest scam they can access with window open.

after having my email contacts literally hijacked from my msn hotmail account late last year I have learned my 'change the password' lesson - I read somewhere that there are actual "decoding" systems out there that basically run usernames and passwords 24/7 until one "hits" and then they got ya - the greed and evil that lurks here on the internet is astounding.

marti, thanks for the heads up on Twitter. I had received several DM's from people I didn't think would be sending them to me and did not open the links. Then I heard of the phishing scam. However, no one ever said to change you password, while I was on even if you had not been infected. So thank you for that my friend.

I upgraded to a Mac over Christmas and been in a huge learning curve so didn't read most of these post you chose so once again thanks.

Marti - thank you for this advice - I took it and things seem to be better now except for all the delays on Twitter. I was getting tons of DM emails from friends but it wasn't really them so I appreciate the heads up you gave us. As always you're a wealth of info. Have missed you a lot and hope you're doing well.
