MeMe:  Seven Things You May Not Know About Me

I was tagged by Pat Preston some time ago for this but have been a bit of a slacker (that's one thing you probably didn't know right there :~)  The holidays have kept me busy with family but I'm ready to play now!

These are the rules:

  1. Create a blog post with a link to the person(s) who tagged you.
  2. List these rules in your post.
  3. Share seven facts about yourself in the post.
  4. Identify seven of your friends or contacts whom you will "tag" to be part of this meme. At the end of your post, list their names and the links to their blogs.
  5. Let the friends whom you tagged, know that they've been tagged.

SEVEN THINGS YOU MIGHT (and might not!) FIND INTERESTING ABOUT TERRI VISSER

Taz & Noah - Terri Visser 20081. I was born in West Virgina but raised in Missouri with 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and later 3 step-brothers.  We moved around a ton but much of my childhood was spent on a farm.

2. Growing up I always wanted to be a veterinarian.  I love all animals!!  When my cat, dog & hamster quota was met as a child I resorted to bull frogs as pets.  I would usually catch them by hand on fishing trips with my grandma.  When I fished with her the bait of choice was corn, as the veterinarian in me wouldn't allow the hooking of a poor defenseless worm.

3. When I graduated college (Business Administration and Early Childhood Education) I moved to NW Portland, OR all by my lonesome where I taught pre-school and worked at McDonald's.  After a couple of years I was asked by one of the families to be a "work hour" nanny, which I did for about 5 years.  I have lived in Redmond, OR since December 1999.

4. Mt. biking and snowboarding are my sports of choice, although these days I choose them less often.  I've been with my husband through all of his broken bones and witnessing that was enough to slow me down.  The older we get, the less "bounce" we seem to have.  Dang it!

Miskito Indians - Terri Visser 2006

5. Maui is my happy place.  We stay in the same in your face ocean front condo in the same 1 of 2 rooms every time we go.  I used to love to share the name with people but now I'm afraid I won't be able to get in when I want to go, so I don't share anymore.  Sorry, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

6. I love that my husband and I are privileged to serve our God side by side in missions and in leading a young adult group at our church.  How blessed are we to get to travel for God together!

7. I leave in 5 days for my 4th trip to Nicaragua.  This will be the third time into the jungles along the Rio Coco to hold medical clinics for the Miskito and Sumo Indians.  My new hammock just arrived!

Ok Pat, that was actually kind of fun.  Thanks for inviting me to play!

I'm not sure I'm up for tagging 7 people.  Having been out of the loop for a couple of weeks I have no idea who may have already been hit!  So it looks like your all off the hook this time.  You can thank me later.

No need to tag 7 people...your highlights were great. And thanks for reaching out to help others.

I will keep you in my prayers as you and your husband spread the Good News of Jesus Christ on your mission trip.

JL - I do love my happy place.

Thank you Kathy!  The more prayer support the better.  Last year we were caught in a major flood....But that's a story for another day.

Hi Terri, I had this question the first time I read this post.  On re-reading the post I still have the same question:  What motivated you to move (from Missouri?) to Portland all by your lonesome?  I spend a bit of time in Portland myself.  My daughter and granddaughter live there.

Hugh - Thank you for the prayers!  The trip went smoothly.  When I feel more back in the grove I will post about the trip.

Your welcome Bill!

How did you know Tammy :~)

Shirley - That is a darn good question!  Not sure I can answer it exactly because it really didn't seem to make much sense at the time.  I had visited Portland with my now husband and we had stayed with his brother Bruce.  Upon finishing undergrad for me and medical school for my husband, we (ok, really my husband Randy) decided we were done dating as he was off to do rotations and wasn't "interested in a relationship".  I decided I was done with small town Missouri and Portland was the only city I had every been to out of my local area.  I moved in with Randy's brother and his roommate while I found a job and apartment.  By the time I had driven to Portland there was a message from Randy that he had reconsidered and dating sounded like a good idea.  We got engaged the next time we saw each other :~)

Your welcome Shirley.  That was definitely the short version but a fun story to share.
