When winter blasts the Northeast, it is not unusual for me to get an email or tweet from someone asking "How much snow did you get?" Some ask out of concern but my friends from the South usually have another motive. Their email typically includes something about the temperature and sunshine they are currently experiencing. Their attempt to make me feel weather depressed doesn't work because I actually love snow. Getting an unexpected day off to enjoy Mother Nature at work is something I look forward to. Unfortunately for snow lovers, the shoreline of Connecticut only averages about 25- 30 inches of snow a year. Just a 50 minute drive north to Hartford and that number almost doubles. The average high temperature in our coldest month of January is around 35 degrees. Heck, I hardly ever wear a coat. In fact, I took this photo in my jammies from my back deck.

Linda---VERY NICE DECK!!!!! In Seattle we got four inches of the white stuff last night----it is pretty, we just don't know what to do with it here. And people are just too impatient to let the guy that put it here take it away:)
