When winter blasts the Northeast, it is not unusual for me to get an email or tweet from someone asking "How much snow did you get?"  Some ask out of concern but my friends from the South usually have another motive. Their email typically includes something about the temperature and sunshine they are currently experiencing. Their attempt to make me feel weather depressed doesn't work because I actually love snow. Getting an unexpected day off to enjoy Mother Nature at work is something I look forward to. Unfortunately for snow lovers, the shoreline of Connecticut only averages about 25- 30 inches of snow a year. Just a 50 minute drive north to Hartford and that number almost doubles. The average high temperature in our coldest month of January is around 35 degrees.  Heck, I hardly ever wear a coat.  In fact, I took this photo in my jammies from my back deck.

Linda---VERY NICE DECK!!!!!  In Seattle we got four inches of the white stuff last night----it is pretty, we just don't know what to do with it here.  And people are just too impatient to let the guy that put it here take it away:)

That is quite the deck and the view of the woods covered in snow is beautiful. Come on down to Dallas/Fort Worth!  On Saturday, it was 85 degrees and gorgeous outside.  Today, it's 31 with an icy/rain mix and yucky! It's warped!

Charles - I love watching the season change from my deck.  God takes a lot of the snow away here.  Our temperatures just aren't that cold for very long to keep it.

Bill - Yes, you do get your share up there!  Much different weather than just a couple hours away.

Amanda - We have our share of the icy/rain mix along the shoreline.

I was outside with my camera when we had out snow this year.  We don't get snow that sticks very often here.  I find snow very peaceful.

Linda, being between you and Hartford, we get more snow than you do, so since you like it so much you are welcome to come on over and help me shovel it ............. LOL

I like the snow from late November till about mid February.  Then it can ALL go away, for good until NEXT November...

Linda, I believe the shorelines get less snow then inland--and melts faster.  I am inland and always get it heavier then people on the shores.  It IS pretty, it's the ice we often get that I don't like.
