Greentechmedia reports that a new oil filter hit the market that will increase your time before your next oil change and possibly extend the life of your car!

SOMS Technologies says its "microGreen" oil filters can capture tiny particles and keep motor oil clean enough to go 30,000 miles without having to be changed.

This should help many people that want a better filter for their engines health and help the environment!

I am thinking that the oil companies might try to buy this company?? What do you think??

Hi Richard,

I, for one, would much rather change my filter every 30,000 miles instead of every 3,000 miles. I'm not one for quick math, but it seems that $45-60 per filter is a great savings over 10 oil changes. You might want to add to your post that this start-up company is looking for additional investors. Thanks for the heads up on these filters.

Hi Richard!

Not only is this great on the wallet (which is a minor issue) but the last time I had an oil change the company didn't even use oil from a barrel - each quart was poured from a plastic quart bottle...just think of the trash going to the landfill! We were out of town when we stopped so it is not a place I frequent...nor would I again because of the waste they generate.

Although I suppose they purchase it that way because they have low volume (small community) and it saves money in inventory? Who knows...but I love the 30K idea!
