I remember from a Mike Ferry course that you should play “happy music” before and even during prospecting.  It’s supposed to make you feel “powerful”!   Songs like Simply the Best, you’re typical Tony Robbins or football game stuff!

I tried this by loading these songs on my iPod.  It didn’t work for me in the office. I found it distracting and others were asking me to lower the music.  It does, however work for me on the road.  It keeps my road rage to a minimum and I’m able to focus on positive thoughts.  It’s always good to clear your mind of all of the nonsense & negativity before walking into a listing appointment. You need to perform at your best!  Rock on!

For years now I've played the music of Tom Barabas in my car or at home any time I need a boost.  I can't tell you what it is about his music but it truly is food for my soul.

That's actually quite true for me.  Top ten songs to play on the drive to the office to get me pumped up:

1- Gettin Jiggy Wit It- Will Smith

2- Whoomp There it Is- Tag Team

3- Jump Around - House of Pain

4- Space Jam- Quad City

5-  Hip Hop Hooray - Naughty By Nature

6-  Who Let The Dogs Out - Baha Men

7-  We Will Rock You - Queen

8-  Hell's Bells- ACDC

9-  Welcome To The Jungle," Guns N' Roses

10- All Star- Smash Mouth

As you can see, I go to a lot of football games but when I play this music and shut the cell phone off, I'm ready to roll when I get in the office.

Hi Brian, I have alot of these in my iPod. What's interesting is that you can tell someone's age by the music they listen to! I bet you can't imagine that Hells Bells is already over 25 years old!

Don't tell Trevor Hoffman, please.  The Padres are fighting for the pennant (and that's his theme song)

Great post, and I remember this from some time ago, as well - I remember one Mike Ferry Superstar Retreat in Palm Springs (early 90s) and the music he played during the "before", "breaks", and "after" that particular year was Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror".

It had to be one of his best seminars - he was "on" and the electricity during those several days was unmistakable.  The music was perfect and energizing at the time, and when I do hear the song, I immediately think of success and organized frenzy in that ballroom.

Last year we tried having some of that music to start off our company sales meetings but it has sort of dwindled off again.  I think I'll share your list above and see if we can't rock on again!  Thanks for the reminder!

P.S.  One of Mike Ferry's other M.O.s was to play his (back then, cassettes) 15-minute tape before a listing presentation, in the car on the way over.  I used to do that all the time - and it worked!  He put you right where you needed to be before going in to ace a listing presentation!
