Angry Woman

Over the past 30 days, I've been having email issues.  Well, actually, my ISP has been having email issues.   Something about Taiwanese spammers and hacking and Yahoo! (and a few other people) putting them on the Bad List and everyone but  Yahoo! taking them off (but I do a lot on YahooGroups!, so this is important).  Sometimes I don't receive my emails.  Sometimes, my emails won't send.  Always, when they don't arrive where they are supposed to, instead of bouncing back so that I KNOW they didn't arrive, they go into the internet ozone layer, never to be seen again (except occasionally, when the ozone layer hiccups some days or weeks later). Makes it hard to do my job.  I even got my ISP together with my secret contact at YahooGroups! in hope of getting this thing fixed.  (Now they owe me one!)

This is driving me CRAZY!  Now, I have backups in place.  I have another ISP (my old, original one), I have a webmail through my office (that forwards everything on to my ISP, except when my ISP isn't accepting messages), I have gmail (a couple of accounts).  I'm covered.  But all of this involves a great deal of workaround time, and I am Not A Happy Camper.

Technology is a wonderful thing.  I love technology.  Except when it drives me CRAZY!!!!!!

So.  How has your day been?

Tricia, I am with you 100%. I only use one e-mail and all the others are forwarded to this particular one. So when that one is down I feel like a caged lion. Since I know clients and prospects are trying to reach me so it is about service & money.Hope it gets fixed fast for you. Mine was down almost 24 hrs.:))

Technology is grand!  I just got an iPhone and I can't send mail from it yet and have only received 1 message on it.  Can't live without it, though.

Love the picture ---- and it captures perfectly how i feel when my email doesn't work.  It is like being tied and shackled.

Liz, that's exactly it - it's our lifeline!

Endre, mine was down completely for a couple of days - I was on the phone bugging them, finding out what the problem was, finding a contact at YahooGroups for them - they know my voice now when they pick up the phone!

Lori, my next step is a smartphone.  Can't do an iPhone because I have to have Verizon (tried all the others and in our area, Verizon is not only the only carrier who doesn't have the black holes that everyone else has, but it's the only one where I don't have to stand in the one square foot of our 55 acres that is northwest of the plum tree and not turn my head in any direction while on a phone call - forget taking a call in the house!

Vickie, I was looking for a photo that exemplified the way I feel, and that one just jumped out at me.  That's exactly it!

Dear Tricia,

I haven't had long term e-mail problems, but it always seems that all forms of communication I use go down at the same time. E-mail, either the server or the cable system, fax the same company as cable, cell phone, and landline!

I was trying to reach a client in South Carolina for a critical closing.  We needed one more doc signed. The communication thing went wacky. The settlement company couldn't reach my client--contacted me. My email went down, his email went down. I left him a message on his cell. His cell wouldn't work. He finally received the message. My phone didn't work. Left him more messages. He left me more message. He left a message to fax the doc to a library. I did. Their fax went down!

We finally spoke directly and the fax worked!!!

A former tenant of mine is an astrologer. Her husband is a computer guru. I called him about my website and asked if his wife had said anything a communication problem. He said, YES!".

Makes me think I should consult with her before I schedule a closing date! Should we blame it on the stars?

Thanks for your post!

Barbara

Have alternate email sites.  For one of my email redirects, it actually goes to two emails so I know for sure I will get the email.  I ran into this problem for 3 months and it killed me.  I am now well protected.

Barbara, you know, it didn't occur to me to check and see if Mercury is in retrograde! (That's what messes with communications - and usually, whenever communications are messed up, I check first the moon to make sure it's not full, and then Mercury.)  I'll have to go look at that!

Norma, there should be some sort of tranquilizer for those of us with email problems.  Maybe a margarita?

Tim, well, I have my business email webmail save everything and forward it on to me, so if the email is sent there, I'm good.  Unfortunately, a lot of my clients tend to use my other email (easier to remember, I guess).  I'll have to figure out something like that as a double fail safe. Three months, and I wouldn't just be crazy, I'd be insane!

Tricia, You picked the perfect picture to get your point across. Also having some email issues tonight. Even though I have back up email....it is time consuming and frustrating.
