Goshen, CT, has made the Top 100 list of the most desirable places to live, according to the real estate industry website Relocate-America. The site takes into account housing opportunities as well as education, environment, economic and other quality of life factors. I was interviewed this week by the Litchfield Enquirer, where I spoke about the things that have made Goshen an increasingly desirable destination.

As I told the reporter, when I first came to Goshen, there there were no traffic lights, just the roundabout in the center of town. I always said, if they put in a light, I'll leave. And 33 years later, there's still no traffic light. The town, the state, and the Goshen Land Trust have done a tremendous job with zoning to help Goshen retain its rural character from its days as a farming community. It's a gem within Litchfield County.

The increasing popularity of Woodridge Lake, the state's largest private lake community, has begun to attract celebrities from across the country. Yet the town continues to have the small-town feel and privacy that residents have appreciated for years. There are also a number of recreational and cultural opportunities, including Mohawk Mountain, Tanglewood, Lime Rock, Jacob's Pillow, and the Warner Theatre that make Goshen a compelling year-round or summer destination. Route 8 makes it easy to access other attractions and to reach New York within a couple of hours.
