HOA list is coming along

And now for a quick status update on my HOA database project.

I've collected HOA information from a variety of sources (I love Google!) and the count is currently sitting at just over 1,000 entries.  I still have to remove duplicates, and then remove the entries that are not actually HOA's but other entities that have been included in the Internet lists for other reasons.

I have the following areas pretty well covered:

Pflugerville
Round Rock
Austin (north, south, and central)

I will be moving toward other areas shortly, including...

Cedar Park
Leander
Georgetown
Hutto

In particular, Google has very little on HOA's in Hutto, I've got the new / new-ish communities covered.  It's the ones that have been around a while I am having difficulty locating.  If anyone has a suggestion on where to look, I'm all ears.

What an ambitious project, I give you credit for following through! Good Luck and I wonder what the final count would be...

Hi Maggie

Thanks for the kudos!  Yeah, I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew.

Where in Maryland are you?  I lived all around Baltimore from 1999-2002.

I want to build a comparison tool for consumers looking throughout Austin.  So, they'll know which subdivisions have HOA's and what they get for their dues.

It'll also be a resource for Austin agents to find contact information for the HOA's so they don't have to do a ton of research when the clock is ticking on a deal.

Hi Greg,

Good for you. Now a question, how do you plan to keep things updated?

Good question.  At first, just getting everything operational is my goal.

As phase two, I intend to build an email list including at least one one address per HOA.  This might become two - as most HOA's seem to have a property management company.

My hope is to send regular emails.  The idea is to make the emails take the form of a very simple survey including the crucial data.  The fun part will be managing the ones whose contact info has changed.  But, I plan to automate everything I possibly can.

I see you're from Brea.  It's been eons, but my wife and I lived in Anaheim when we first got married.  I worked at the Big 5 Sporting Goods store in Brea, and the one in La Habra.
