I'm in the process of writing an extensive ebook on how to use Twitter for business and I need your help.

Bird reading bookI'd like for you to go to Twitter and send a tweet to @pchaney outlining in 140 characters or less just how you use Twitter. Also, if you don't mind, use the hashtag #artwitbook. That will enable me to use Twitter search and see all the messages.

If you think your response will exceed 140 characters, then leave it in a comment here. I will include all responses in the book and give you full attribution.

Why an ebook?

You recall that I did a five-part series (part 1, 2, 3, 3.5, 4) on using Twitter for business. While it was a good start, I felt much more needed to be said. If my calculations are correct, the ebook could span some 30-40 pages, possibly more.

Will there be a cost?

First, you all know how much I love freely sharing information and ideas here at Active Rain. In this case, however, I can't. I've got too many hours invested and many more yet to go before the ebook is ready for distribution.

There will be a price, albeit a small one. In fact, it's going to be cheaper here than anywhere else. And, for those who contribute, I'll offer an even deeper discount.

One thing I guarantee is that the book will contain everything you'd ever need to know about Twitter to start using it to grow your business. And, if you purchase it and don't feel it lives up to the billing, I'll gladly refund your money no questions asked and you can keep the ebook.

Soooo....what are you waiting for? Go to Twitter, send a message to @pchaney about how you're using Twitter for business. If you want to elaborate, leave a comment.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cool. #1. Love this idea, Paul. Happy to help but want to ponder it a bit so I can be concise. :)

Just did Paul! I wish you much success. I am almost finished my short sale ebook. It takes a lot of dedication to make the time to write, but for me it is a joy to write, not a chore. Katerina

Paul, this is a great idea! I'm still learning Twitter and have much still to learn. I could use the help! I remember some of what you said at the HoustonBarCamp and even that little bit gave me a better perspective and understanding. I'm looking forward to this!

Thank you and Happy 2009! Deb

MORNING PAUL!  Well -- when I figure out how to "send a message to @pchaney" -- I will be right on it!  I just made an Twitter account yesterday and oddly - can't even find myself now.  I will continue on with it today and I will eventually be a customer of yours!  -- Gabrielle

I use Twitter to make business connections *before* I need them. By following the brightest people in marketing, I am able to receive the best news and information from them, keep a finger on the pulse of the industry, contribute to the conversation (which in turn shapes my own opinions), and often make personal connections. I have no doubt that my next job and first client will come via Twitter.

Paul:  I just posted a tweet about a free book I found online that you can edit but must keep original in tact.  I really delved into Twitter when I first joined and learned a lot and have a whole list of links that I come back to.  I downloaded the book but haven't read it yet.  Thought you would want to know about it.  For my business, I find the top people to follow - mostly technology and social media (at Twiiter like twittes, twitscoop and many others).  This really keeps me in the know and I have much more to blog about - feel more up to speed about things.  I also search and follow a lot of local people and just found a Motor City Connect group and so forth.  I am sure I will get business as I converse locally and create SEO from what I learn.

I use twitter to learn, keep track of breaking news (@cnnbrk, @CNETNews, etc.) and get quick customer service. I often find that by sending a DM to a company representative I can get lightening fast service.

I also use twitter to connect with people and build relationships.

Hope this helps, and please let me know when your book is published.

I wish you the best of luck with your book Paul.  I'm sure it will be very successful.  Twitter is still pretty new to many and there are a ton of people still unsure what it is and how to use it.

I don't mind paying for your book. I am sure it will be as excellent as the Blogging one which I bought and gave to all my Brokers to no avail. Regardless I read it twice and it helped me so much.

@Missy - Dang brokers! Thank you for those kind words. Anytime anyone says that book helped them, a big, huge smile spreads across my face. Love to hear such. Thanks!

Since this is way more than 140 characters, I'm leaving a comment. I'll try to condense it and tweet it to you.

Twitter is where I share discoveries with others.

Twitter is where I help others by answering questions.

Twitter is where I learn about social media, communications, public relations, marketing, associations and non-profits, news, food, beer, and much more from those I follow.

Twitter is where I nurture existing friendships and perhaps begin new ones.

Paul - I left you a message @paulchaney and #artwitbook. I really like Twitter and the ability to find local people (twit local) feeding blog posts to other sites, and network with both professionals and consumers.
