Beaverton City Parks, Picture by Todd ClarkI have really learned to love my morning walks with my parents and Beaverton, Oregon, has some great parks with great walking trails. Now, this is not only helping my health, but also my parents' health. Plus it is also getting us even closer as we know everything about each other.

It is weird when I hear a story from my parents that I had never heard before. It still happens, but certainly doesn't happen often. So, go out and take a walk with someone you love and you may find out something you didn't know about them.

Here is a list of parks that we have walked over the past year and hopefully you will find one that you will enjoy. If you see me, please don't hesitate to say "Hi" I would love to meet my readers.

The title for today's post came from a quote by Noel Coward that goes, "I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me." My wife read that to me and I knew I had to use it!

When my Mom was older, I tried to make sure that I spent time actually talking, learning about her life, it was the best thing I ever did and I will always be grateful for that time.  You are lucky to have this time with your parents, cherish it.

Todd, I agree with Joanne's comment about appreciating the time you have with your parents.  It looks like beautiful country.

Very true Todd, sometimes we get so envolved with things, we can forget to take a break for the simple enjoyments of being with another person and listening to what they say.

Best to you and yours.

Morning Todd,

Good that you have the opportunity to spent this time with your parents. It is valuable time that will be reflected upon for many years to come.

Todd,

I love the waterfall on your wallpaper.  Did you take that while walking in one of the parks?

Todd,

I don't have my parents with me any longer, but I do enjoy walking with my husband. Here in the North Georgia Mountains we have some wonderful trails as well as the Appalachian Trail! There is nothing more enjoyable than a nice relaxing (or brisk) walk with someone you love!

Beaverton is a beautiful place.  Oregon on the other hand is a beautiful place.  While it may be a bitter sweat to do this now, you'll look back and be glad you did.

I grew up in Beaverton, so I know very well some of these parks you have mentioned.  I lived in Garden Home, went to Whitford and Beaverton High School.  Many of my friends lived in Greenway, and I played a lot of sports through Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation.

I have now lived in Arizona for the past 12 years, and the climate is completely different here.

I still try to get to Oregon once a year to visit friends and family.  The parks, summers, and the changing colors of the fall are some of the things I miss most.
