ok...So my husband didn't like the first Turkey pic...I spent minutes working on optimizing the photo, and it just wasn't good enough; It had something to do with the beard of the turkey? Tell me why...I am still trying to understand the bearded creatures that wobble into our yard...but I guess the beard and the male species have something in common. Size matters!!!

The first thing you must do if you have taken this shot, with a 12 pixel camera, is reduce it to a size that is ACCEPTABLE to the web. For easier loading I would suggest 600 x 570.

Then it will become very small on your screen...but don't fear...just crop it...using the cropping tool...the one highlighted in the next photo.

Next select the filters menu...in most cases you can select adjust color, > auto levels, select filters again and sharpen and sharpen; just once in most cases...but experiment if you want.

This photo is not quite ready for the web..because it will take 18 seconds to load in most instances.

Fireworks has a built in tool to help you with optimizing for the web, and you can select either 2 up or 4 up...

I selected 2 up in this instance. and pronto it portraits the original and the image to the right will give you stats on the amount of time it will take to load on your website.

To the right of this picture you will see an optimize menu...click on it once.

In this instance I selected a quality of 38...you can also play around with this if you wish to experiment...

but as you can see..."Presto"..a perfect picture for the web.

Next...Do you want action and animation...Leave me comments...or just leave...J/K...but please let me know what you like...I'm just overtaxed on the same ole real estate gobble...((hugs))

Shawn,

I like what you did with levels and contrast.  The old guy really looks majestic in the last photo.

Actually this is a young bird. But he is pretty no less. The size of the beard shows there age. But the biggest thing that shows age and dominance is the size of the spurs. Size does matter!

Gee I guess size does matter but could we see some animation.  This program does interest me, anything that could make my photos look better.  Thanks for the help.

Looks good but as a tip to your work flow I would do the cropping and everything before resized the photo for the web.  Then if you need to do a little more.  If you are consistently not getting the quality you want from your resized picture, it could be the resizer that is problem.  Not every resizer does a quality job.

My marketing guru has all sorts of photo editing software, so I just tell him what I want and a couple of minutes later there it is. I'm so lucky.

I miss being able to use MS power-toys for image size reduction, now that I have Vista... any suggestions?

Mary, Fireworks is an Adobe Product and has a built in image editor much like photoshop, I was unaware is was not compatible with Vista!  You could ask if there is a patch or upgrade to your current program.

Mary here is a link that I found that might help you.  I do not use it as I still have XP.

Thank-you, Gene for link...that was very considerate of you...I haven't any information on Vista, as I am still in the dark ages with Windows XP.

Hi Shawn, Oh, nice shimmering feathers. The bird looks great. Do you often get a turkey in your yard? It must be quite rural?

Yes, we live in Davison...if you know where that is...Ann Arbor is just about One and a Half hours South West of Us....Surburban Country is the best way to explain.  I am on an 11 acre parcel with a cpuple of hundred acres of farm behind me; mostly 10 or more acre parcels on our end of the street...just beautiful, well maintained area with many newer homes.  The turkey do roam our property often...however I have not seen them since these shots were taken the end of December..beginning of January...we were having a warm spell for a couple of weeks when they showed up here for a photo shot.
