Your Heath in the New Year

There is a list on my wall.  It is of my friends and Clients who are going through or have a loved one dealing with a serious illness.  I was just looking at it and reflecting on the previous year and contemplating the New Year.  I decided to write this post.
Want to hear some weird good news?  Another Client of mine was roaring down a hill on his bike and to avoid a slower bike rider swerved.  The result was four days in the hospital recovering from a collapsed lung and broken ribs.  I saw him in the gym today, just two weeks later.  We talked about how grateful we are that it was only a brief serious injury.
Were his body stronger and his reactions better because he is in the gym every day, plus participating in sports like skiing and bike riding?  Do better food, exercise and sleep prevent disease?  Of course not, or at least not completely, do they delay the possibility?  Probably
I don't mean to lecture on this.  Please forgive if this comes across that way and I am not saying make a resolution to.....  I am saddened by the effect of ill health on friends and loved ones.  If you are not doing something physical to raise your heart rate, do something today.  Start with walking around the block, walking around as you speak on the phone, using the stairs.  Even if I don't know you, I wish you a long, happy, and healthy life.  And that your loved ones have you in good health for as long as possible.  There is a Jewish expression that says, "Until 120."  It means may you live to be 120.  I wish that to you and your loved ones.
