Stagers: A Little Help Please

My wife is a Real Estate Agent with me. We're a team. She's already a great decorator, and she's decided that she wants to seek out some education that would help her learn about staging. She enrolled in the Realtor ASP course, which is the 2 day course from Barb Schwartz. Since she does intend to offer this service to our clients, we were wondering what other training she should seek out. Your most excellent professional advice is much appreciated.

Any ideas?

I'd take whatever courses are available, from ASP and its counterparts to Feng Shui to NAHB courses. After ASp, she can join the local stagers groups and learn from networking. Also, just go out and observe - model homes, homes you know have been staged, etc. And, of course, follow the staging comments here on Active Rain.

Just soak up all the knowledge you can.

How about trying to spend some time viewing work done by a professional interior designer, they are the queens (and kings too) of small things to do to make a world of difference...? I have a great gal if you would like her name and number, pop me an email.

Did you know there are several groups here in the rain which are dedicated to Stagers. If you post this in one of those groups you will probably get more response. The one most Stagers will view it on is Stage it Forward. Does your wife plan to become a full time Stager or just give this as a value added for your clients?

Taking the ASP course is a great start. I'm unsure if the ASP is similar to the CSP (Canadian Staging Professional) course; we have an apprenticeship program that you can become involved in once you have graduated from the course. You shadow "mentor's" on their jobs from consults to staging. You can do this for as long as you want, until you feel comfortable to do it on your own.
