If you have been following my blog over the last four-plus months, you are aware of my life-long love for FOOTBALL!!! While watching last Sunday's NFL Wild Card games, I experienced some inspiring moments by watching two very successful NFL players.

Their career approaches and results can be used as living examples of the ingredients necessary for success in 2009.

PASSION + PERSISTENCE = PRODUCTION

PASSION - If you can find a more passionate player than Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens, please let me know. (We can have that debate in a separate post.) Ray exemplifies PASSION on the football field. In every workout......During every speech....On every play...........

In every game.....Ray IS PASSION!

Whether you like him or not, you cannot deny his self-sacrificing love for THE GAME.

When potential buyer-clients and homeowners talk with you about real estate and their future transaction, they should feel your passion for helping others achieve their real estate dreams and goals.

PERSISTENCEAfter his name was called during Selection TWO of the 1999 NFL Draft, Quarterback Donovan McNabb was booed by the Philadelphia Eagles' fans. To this day and as recent as 4pm on Sunday, December 28, 2008, there were serious rumblings about whether the Eagles Organization was going to cut ties with #5.

How has Donovan repaid the Eagles Contingent?  Philadelphia was treated to four consecutive NFC Championship Games and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIX. And....most recently...a 2009 NFL Wildcard victory versus Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings.

In my opinion, Donovan has been instrumental in helping the Eagles perform at a level of continuous quality for the last ten years! If you are reading this blog post and thinking about writing a book about persistence, you must include a chapter about Donovan J. McNabb!

PRODUCTION - If you are passionate about your BIG WHY and you are persistent in performing the task that lead to successful transaction, you will be well on your way to your desired 2009 PRODUCTION.

Hey Ray and Donovan! Thanks for being living examples of the traits necessary to be a successful real estate agent. I hope to meet you one day and personally thank you for being you!

Great post David! Not to mention it will probably get you a lot of traffic from football lovers like yourself (considering the teams and names you mentioned). Very clever indeed sir!

David, you hit the nail right on the head about Ray Lewis.

Love him or hate him as a person. That's a different debate.

But one thing that's not debatable is his passion for the game of football.

I remember Donovan McNabb getting booed on draft day. Look who's laughing now.

He's perservered in a tough city to play in.

Well done David!

Hi David,

Great post 0 I have never understood Philly's dislike for McNabb - all the guy does is win.

And the fact that he has been able to succeed despite overwhelming fan support is amazing.

David, right on...passion will take a person further than natural abilities. In fact over the years I have seen the same thing from Realtors and football. Sometimes the ones with the most talent just don't produce like they should because they have lost or never had their passion.

LOVED this post! I couldn't agree more- these two traits will help you achieve greatness everytime and when I am feeling discouraged for any reason, I will think of Ray Lewis and Donovan McNabb! ;)

David, I just heard the most ridiculous thing on the radio regarding Donovan McNabb. The guest said that tomorrow, the day of the Giants/ Eagles game, is McNabb's lowest bio-rhythm day of the year and that he's 24 times more likely to get injured tomorrow than any other day of the year.

Bio-rhythms?

Is that what we're using to predict games now?!!!
