Photosynth is the ability to reconstruct the scene or object from a bunch of flat photographs, and the technology to bring that experience to virtually anyone over the Internet.
Using techniques from the field of computer vision, Photosynth examines images for similarities to each other and uses that information to estimate the shape of the subject and the vantage point each photo was taken from. With this information, we recreate the space and use it as a canvas to display and navigate through the photos. (From their website)
This is the first synth I created. I did not have photos completely circling the room. In the future, I will take photos allowing me to have a 360 degree photo of the room. This example gives you an idea of Photosynth capabilities. For more examples, visit thier website.
Thought it would be helpful for you to have the info now, so the next time you finish staging a home, you could get all the photos you needed to create your own synth.
