For me it's a mental thing. I've gotta turn off the salesman side and turn on my listening ears. After all that's the best way to get sales. Granted I'm guilty of occasionally thinking of what I'm going to say once the other person stops talking. I like the new background its very relaxing.
Sandy - Definitely good advice for our business relationships. I think it sometimes boils down to taking a deep breath and slowing down. We sometimes want to finish other people's thoughts for them. This is one post I will have my dear husband read. :-)
Hi Sandy - Congrats on a new milestone :-) 100,000 and counting, you're on a roll! I gave your name to someone looking for an agent in Melbourne for a short sale listing, good luck.
Hi Sandy, What did you say? I wasn't listening... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
This is a great post, we all know what it feels like to not have someone really listen to what we are saying. Listening is a true art, give feedback to the speaker, to be sure you heard them correctly, ask questions and listen to the answers... taking the time to listen, is time well spent!! Hope you have a wonderful day, Sandy!! Thanks for the post.
Love your new background- by the way!! :-)
Hey Paul, Love your response. So true, blogging is a way to be certain that you are being listened to or you can read something without being interrrupted. Great point!
Hi Kevin, I agree that some people are afraid to say that they don't understand something. If they don't it's important to stop and ask the speaker to repeat themselves - another great point!
Hi Ann, I think that we could all stand to work on our listening skills - one mor thing for us to learn to improve on. Thanks and I hope that you're having a great day! Is it warm there today?
Hi Mike, Being an ex poker player, I'm sure you completely understand the importance of great listening skills. Never thought about that before.
Hi Chris and Karen, As a Realtor we must have excellent listening skills, there's no question about it. Great point! Thanks!
Hi Brian, I agree, that when we don't listen to someone speaking, it is, indeed, an insult. We are showing them that we are not interested in what they have to say to us! So true...yet another great point.
Gabe, Hope you are well and enjoying your new year thus far. We can all take a lesson on listening a bit better. Sometimes it's hard to do. Have a great New Year!
Hi Gerogina, I agree, that listening is truly an art...an art that many don't have. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey Justin, I find myself thinking of something someone says a minute back in the conversation and making a mental note of asking a question regarding that issue. We must remain focused and let the speaker finish talking. Thanks for the compliment on the new header and background. I needed a change...something more peaceful. Thanks and have a great day!
Hi Pat, Your comment made me laugh, because when I wrote it, I had my husband in mind also. He speaks a mile a minute, sometimes so fast that I can't understand what he's saying. He has a tendency to try and finish my sentences for me. I hope the post helps with your husband!
Hi Gail, Happy New Year! Thanks for the congratulations! I see that congratulations are in order for you, too. You have been working very diligently, and increasing your points quickly - GREAT JOB to you! I love being here on Active Rain. I learn so much and everyone is so friendly! Thank you for passing my name along. I appreciate it very much. If I hear of anyone looking with real estate needs in Titusville I will let you know. Take care and wishing you a wonderful 2009~!
Hey Miss Mary, You are so funny - HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I think that you are correct, that we must give feedback and even repeat what someone says to be sure that we understood them correctly. I agree. Then, there is no room for misunderstanding. Listening is an art.
I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR LADY WITH THE CANE AND THE HAIRNET!
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? hahahahahahahaahahahahaahahahahaahahahahahaahahahahaha
Thanks for the compliment on the new header and background! It was time for something different!
Now, there you go again picking on the old lady LOL!
Hey Sandy,
It was absolutely gorgeous here today...sunny and warm. Next week will be COLD! Not looking forward to it.. but not much I can do to change it.

This is incredibly timely. My husband and I are going through a divorce but still living in the same home. We had some issues to work out last night regarding our teen-age daughter. As suggested in our marriage counseling classes previously, I had given a "heads up" that I woul like to talk to him about this latest dilemna. He does sit down and the next thing, he pulls over his laptop and starts to fire it up!!! This is not uncommon and I dont usually mind when its nrmal chit-chat, day to day stuff, but was floored that he could not provide his undivided attention when it was a very important issue--our daughter. I asked him to not log on and then I became the bad guy for requesting a few moments of no distractions.
Soooooo, love this blog. It made me laugh and forget about last night. Thank YOU!
Warm regards,
Kathryn Hoffman
Hey Ann, Thanks for always keeping me abreast of what's going on there in your neck of the woods!
Hi Kathryn, So glad that I could bring a laugh to you during a difficult time in your life. I hope that all goes as well as it can, and that you come out of it alright. Take care of yourself!
Sandy,
It is a good way to remain positive..
Have a wonderful day,
Ann
