If you answered yes to either of these questions, then do I have some great news for you! Washington County offers some great benefits to you as a thank you for your service to our great country and keeping us free. Additionally, there are some other state and national benefits that you may not know about either.

This one is a big one if you are planning on buying a home, or already own a home, in Washington County. If you are a 40% disabled veteran, or a widower of a veteran, you maybe entitled to an exemption on your property taxes. To find out more about the Disabled War Veterans property tax exemption please visit the Oregon State Tax website.

Have you been honored for your service to our country? How about you get a plate that shows off your service to our country? There are many different plates and some of them have an additional fee associated with them, but if you are proud of what you have done for this country, I suggest one of these great license plates.

To our veterans with at least a 25% disability rating, you are eligible for a lifetime hunting and fishing license. Click here to download the application.

Another great program offered by the state is for the Oregon Parks and Campgrounds. This program waives the fees for RV and tent campsites and visits to all of the Oregon Parks and Recreation sites. To apply for the waiver click here.

There are also many other benefits available through the federal government and to find out more about those, please click here to visit their website.

If you are interested in finding out more about buying in Washington County, Oregon, on a Veterans Administration loan and/or would like to find out more about other benefits offered to veterans in Washington Country, don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me an e-mail, I would love to help.

Hi Todd!  Great benefits to our veterans and widows of the veterans--they most certainly do deserve all of the tax breaks that we can offer them for their service to our country!  I know those who did not know this appreciate your posting this information for them!

Great Post.  My Dad is a veteran and there are a lot of them in this city also.  I wonder if they know what our city has to offer them?  Very creative idea! THank you for sharing

Good incentives to live there.  More communities should have similar benefits.

That is great digging on your part to be of a good assistance to vets. Did you call up the local county and ask, or did they have resources online? Do you know if that is typical of most states?

Hi Todd,

Great ideas. I have used this technique, as well. The key is to get the person talking and find out more about them - I totally agree.
