Come see the sights of what makes Wellington Florida one of the most famous Equestrian centers in the world. Here we host the annual Winter Equestrian Festival which is gearing up to be in full swing. The Winter Equestrian Festival runs through March 29th this year and started today.

This year there are competitors and horses from around the world including Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the Middle East.

Competitors compete for over $6 million dollars in prize money.

Glen Straub and other land owners and developers around here might have a lot of money but Mark Bellissimo has class.

Mark Bellissimo has done a first class job of putting $10 million dollars into sprucing up the showgrounds and surrounding roads and property. Bellissimo visited one of the top rated Equestrian centers in Europe and decided he wanted to turn his Palm Beach International Equestrian Center into the best center in the world.

The transformation of before and after is like night and day. You will really enjoy the new seating that Mark has installed already.

winter equestrian festival wellington Florida

He put in all new bleachers and much more seating to accomodate the spectators that love to watch the Equestrian competition here in Wellington Florida.

Lush landscaping with colorful gorgeous flowers adorn the rings and walkways all around the show grounds.

You can stop off for lunch by walking over the bridge to the Tavern on the Green. Jenny Oz is down here riding her horse.

Take a look around at our photos for a behind the scenes look at the workings of the Winter Equestrian Center.

The horses are happy with the largest improvement; special sandy material that is easy on the horses. This is an Olympic type footing and 3 of the rings have this material.

South Shore Blvd down towards the Equestrian center has been widened to 4 lanes with easier turn arounds for large horse trailers.

Admission is FREE on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tickets are $15 per person on the weekends. Kids under 12 and seniors get in free.

If you know anyone who is coming down and needs a rental we have a rental right next to the showgrounds for $15,000 per month. Contact us at our office, 561-753-0135 for details.

Enjoy The Show!

Katerina - You absolutely did a fantastic job illustrating the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, I just wish Wellington be closer to Lakeland, FL right now because my daughter just graduated college with a BA in Therapeutic Horsemanship and a minor in Equine Business looking for an opportunity to teach.

Jason and Amber- You are welcome for the letter. I am glad that you received it. We got a lot of letters returned to sender.

I used to take the photos and make them webready but then they upload about 1/3 of the size of these on the post here. I changed over to the large photos after being a reader of Georgina, the Maui Hunter and enjoying her amazing photos. The impact of the larger photos is really great.

The best part is that I am always the one taking photos because I know about photography and love it, but these photos were taken by Nestor! I was so happy when he surprised me that he had gone over to the show to shoot these photos!

Hi Nester and Katerina.

Thank you for your Holiday Letter. I used to live in Jupiter, Fla when Wellington was first developed and I had attended several of the Polo matches in the early days. They have certainly expanded the place beautifully. One day I'll make it back there. Love this!

Simply beautiful and we have lost many young aspiring equestrian trainers in the winter to your town.  Now I understand why.  They often work for next to nothing just to be there but they learn so much!  Thanks for the photos, I've never seen it myself.

Katerina,
Beautiful pictures and a very nice localism post.  I have recently begun to blog and begin to work the localism channels...I first stumbled on to Debe Maxwell and she, being the super sweetie that she is, has spoken so highly of you.  I really hope to learn more from both of you and enjoy reading your posts.  I am about to subscribe and add as an associate...something I have been meaning to do for a long time!

Katerina,
That is a beautiful setting and event.  Your photos are outstanding.  My 7 year old neice would love to be there she started taking riding lessons 2 years ago and does local shows in Virginia.  Her parents fox hunt as did her grandfather.

I didn't know Wellington Florida one of the most famous Equestrian centers in the world. From your photos, I can see why. And I love the row of Foxtail Palms too. Those are my favorite palm trees  =)

Katerina, these are lovely shots. I especially like the second one with the horses and palm trees perspective. I think my husband shot a TV commercial there when we lived in Coral Springs years ago. I remember going to a really fancy equestrian center. It was for Canon EOS. Can't wait to see more - especially when the paparazzi follow you :)

I think I've met the guy on the horse in the second to last photo but his name escapes me.....I'm sure I've at least seen him at shows...great pics...we had a flock of riders and trainers head down to Florida for the winter although with the economy I was surprised at how many also stayed home....if I hear of anyone moving to Wellington, you'll be my first referral!
