Here are three cameras' on video mode.

WOW! Finally! Compare a 35mm to a 28mm to a 15mm.

Ignore the compression because Photobucket reduces these 50 megabyte files to 1 megabyte. Focus on color, sharpness and WIDE ANGLENESS.

Canon Sd600 35mm (not wide angle) AVI file format. 640 resolution with 30 fps (frames per second)
Price: This is an older model, but you can probably get it nearly new or new on email for $150.

Kodak v705 (v570) 28mm Wide Angle Point and Shoot camera. (Update: this camera is a 23mm in photo mode, but in VIDEO mode it drops to 28mm, see my blog post on the 24mm Samsung in video mode!)
Price: Anywhere from $115 on clearance on ebay to $300 on ebay or amazon

Expensive Nikon D90 DSLR with video, a 15mm equivalent. Using a 10-20mm Sigma, (10mm actually is "only" 15mm with this DSLR) Canon has a similar model that converts to 16mm
Price: Brand new and in store would be $1300. Brand new online maybe $1100. Both used maybe you can break $900.

What do you think?

What are the prices on these?  There's definately no comparing the quality, but cost is definately an issue.

Update 1-19-09: The v705/ v570 is a fake! It is not a true 23mm in video mode. It is more like a 29mm! Coming soon, a review of the Samsung 24mm HD

I'm frantically researching this - Do you have any thoughts here in 2010 - ?  I like the Nikon D90 but not the price - You certainly have presented the options well ... Just wondering what you're using now?

For video I like the $150 Samsung NV24 which is a 24mm wide angle and the video has an amazing pause feature! Buy it used on amazon or ebay.
