HubSpot
I am not sure where I learned about HubSpot but I am really glad I did. In the last three months I have taken control and have been learning how to improve the search optimization of my web site. In the past, I left this job to others I hired. Unfortunately, I never found that I was satisfied.  I decided to learn the nuts and bolts for myself so that when and if I do hire someone in the future, I will be far more knowledgeable in the directions I give and the way I evaluate the results. Otherwise, I now have the tools to do this myself.

Because I am so excited about what I am learning, this is the first post in a series I will do on HubSpot and its Web 2.0 tools and training.

Many of you may have heard about HubSpot's Web Site Grader tool and there have been a few recent posts about their Twitter tool. In fact, HubSpot has a number of awesome free tools but, the ones you pay for, are even better.

HubSpot Explained
If you get inside HubSpot there is a wealth of information and training about Web 2.0 strategies. There is a series of detailed training sessions about in-bound and out-bound marketing, keyword analysis (including the correct writing of titles, descriptions and keywords), blogging, social networking and so much more. There are layers and layers of detail to work through.  All of this information is directly applicable to working on the SEO of your web site and blog.  There also is an amazing library of webinars on every SEO topic you can imagine, for example, Advanced Link Building Strategies to using Twitter and Linked-In in your business.

Hubspot Forums
If you have a question you, you can use the Forums.  HubSpot SEO  marketing gurus answer these questions as well as all the marketing gurus for all types of companies that are using HubSpot.  I recently posted a question about the value of using Squidoo lenses. I immediately got answers and learned that everything I  am doing through Active Rain and my own blogs is the appropriate way to go.

The latest and greatest on SEO, Web 2.0 and social networking  is always coming from HubSpot. HubSpot and its up-to-date information let's you stay on the forefront of what's new and hot on the web!

In this post, I want to talk about The Web Site Grader tool which evaluates your web site.  This tool gives you a number of excellent recommendations to improve the SEO of your site. Once you get inside HupSpot, the Web Site Grader tool is more difficult than the free tool (meaning that your grade on the inside will be lower and there is more detail on how to improve the SEO of your site). The report looks at your title, descriptions and keywords on multiple pages, your blog, blog rank, google page rank, inbound links, your Alexa score and more.  In each of these areas, there are other tools to dig deeeper to improve the SEO of your site.  In future posts I will give you information on the keywords tool, the links tool and a few other goodies.

The other thing I love about HubSpot is that you can also track the specifics about your competitors on an on-going basis. The table below shows the details of my site vs. a number of competitor sites.  I have removed all of the URLs but left the other detail.  In this chart, not only do I have detail on what I need to do to improve my site, I can see how my competitors are doing relative to me.  The following table gives you a snapshot of what this looks like.  With the other tools mentioned above, I can go even deeper not only for me but to evaluate my competitors as well. I guess I am a true web geek, but I think this stuff is pretty cool.

Hubspot Website Grader

Look forward to future posts on HubSpot and the things that I keep learning that think are of value to share.  Don't hesitate to give me your comments, feedback and questions.

Please also look at HubSpot and their internet marketing tools and systems.

If you want to speak to someone at HubSpot, let me know and I will get you connected.

Nice article.  I tried your tags (HubSpot, in particular) and they returned an error page.  I reported it, but thought I would mention it.

In terms of HubSpot, I like them as well.  Thinking about 'pulling the trigger' on an unrelated real estate site to give them a try.  I'll be viewing their free webinar tomorrow.

Courtney,

If you get inside HubSpot the web site grader tool is even better.  HubSpot does a sweep every week and updates the web site grader, the keywords and links.  If you have any quesitons, give me a call.
